  1. Email from DGS with funding and info for History Day, followed by email from POI.
  2. Email from the DGS and Chair.
  3. I got in to Chicago!!!!!!!
  4. Has anyone heard anything from Chicago (interviews, informal emails from POI, etc)?
  5. Not sure about further admits, so can't say either way. Nothing on the website changed, the letter came as an attachment in an email from the DGS.
  6. So did I! Congrats!!
  7. I have been in contact with a POI at one of my top choices, and they have requested a Skype interview. I'm really not sure how to prepare, or what to expect. Has anyone else had this type of interview? What sorts of questions should I expect, and what should I ask? I already have a firm offer from a great program as well as an unofficial acceptance to another, and feel less anxious than I normally would-but I don't want to come off as uninterested or overconfident.
  8. Programs can-and will-give deadlines that fall before April 15th. Schools/programs want to know that they are offering funding to students that will accept and offer admission to those on the wait list should admits turn them down. If the deadline you are given is soon/soonish, ask for an extension. If that doesn't go well it could be a sign of things to come.
  9. Yes, it is. They probably still need to send the recommendations over to the schools grad division to make it official. Congrats! I sent a short note like, "Prof. So and so, I am very happy/glad to have been recommended for admission."
  10. Congrats to the Berkeley admit. Exciting!
  11. I have been silently waiting and agonizing along with you all. So first congrats to all with good news-be it interviews or acceptances. I thought I would go mad from anxiety, and that I would be resoundingly rejected from all 5 programs--I spent the last few weeks/months agonizing over my low quant score, an irritating typo in one SOP, leaving a sentence in my writing sample that read "black-and-shite" instead of black-and-white--and yet, as I checked my email this morning I was struck dumb to find out that I have been "recommended for admission with full funding" to an amazing program with amazing an equally amazing advisor.
  12. Same. Email came in last night.
  13. Hi All, I suppose it is time to stop lurking.... I am in the final steps of submitting applications (Yale, Chicago, Michigan, UCSB, and Minnesota). Even though I have done everything I can think of to situate myself for success (contacting POIs, presenting papers, working as a TA, languages-German, French, Latin), and have a pretty solid profile (3.9 undergrad, 4.0 grad., 93rd percentile in V, solid recommendations), I still feel very anxious about the next few months.
  14. Have you heard back from any programs? Just wondering, my scores are basically the same 163 V, 145 Q, 4.5 AW.
  15. Good to know. Congrats on Stanford!
  16. I'd also like to hear more about that. I spoke with the UCSD grad office this morning and was told that decisions haven't been finalized, and would be released next week.
  17. That's what I was thinking, based on last years results.
  18. Anyone else apply to UCSD? Just wondering....
