I'm also claiming a Syracuse waitlist. Just glad it wasn't a rejection and I'm relieved my cycle is basically over now.

Thank you, TheWalrus and Cane14! Admission without funding is kind of a tease. I got the same thing from Rutgers, but the Temple email sounded a lot more hopeful about a line of funding opening up. I have my fingers crossed.

Thank You!

I'm American! The baby jesus just answered my prayers and I got an acceptance email from Temple... no funding though. I'm hoping funding becomes available. The email sounds hopeful at least. Also, I don't know what "Eataly" is, but it sounds like something I'd be all about.

Someone said a few pages back that Syracuse would notify sometime at the end of February, so I'm just hoping that's true.
-
I'm hoping to hear something from Syracuse today. I just really want to wrap up this cycle! I'm also assuming rejection from temple since I haven't heard anything.... a huge bummer since I love Philly.

Thanks for the advice IRTheoryNerd!

Yes! I feel like they will quickly find out I'm a fraud. I think my fear just stems from coming from a pretty much unknown undergrad institution. I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling that way though.

Anyone want to claim the Temple admit? I'm still waiting to hear from them. Also is anyone else nervous as hell about the prospect of starting a PhD program? I was ridiculously excited to receive acceptances, but also overcome with anxiety. I sort of had it in my head that I wouldn't get in and the choice would be made for me.

Yes, I did have a phone interview this past Friday. I really have no idea if they are doing that for everyone or just some people. Good luck though!

Claiming a Rutgers and a SUNY Binghamton admit. I'm pretty much in shock. The Rutgers email was sent on the 14th and went into my spam folder, which I have been checking. Not sure how I didn't see that until today.
-
Definitely not! I feel entitled to as much chocolate and self pity as I want. I think I'll just get lost in a Netflix binge. That'll take my mind off things.
-
Thanks Cazorla. I'd like to see some good news as well. The thing I am most annoyed about right now is being snowed in. I can't even go and get some chocolate to soothe myself with.
-
I hope so too. I also applied to SUNY Binghamton.
-
I am not international. Stony Brook is the only decision I have received so far.
-
I'm claiming the Stony Brook rejection. It's a bummer, but I'm not as upset as I thought I'd be. Maybe I'm just numb? Haha.

I'm wondering about Syracuse as well. Also, Temple. Their application deadline was December 1st. I thought I'd hear something from them by now.
-
Thank you for letting me know that! That gives me at least a little bit of hope. When I log on to check my status on the Rutgers portal it just says "no decision," so maybe they just haven't reviewed my application yet....

Congrats to everyone who received acceptances today! Still haven't heard from any of the schools I applied to, although I'm assuming I've been rejected from Rutgers. I'm starting to feel like I was a little too ambitious shooting for PhD programs and maybe should have applied to at least a few Masters programs. Oh well.... too late now.
-
Congrats to everyone who received acceptances! At this point I would just like to get an answer either way from ANY of the schools I applied to. I thought I'd be hearing from Temple by now as they had a really early application deadline, but nothing....

Best of luck to you too! And yes, my username is from the VU.

Thank You!

Hey everyone, I've been lurking here for awhile and I finally decided to just join. This is my first cycle. I applied to all PhD programs in Political Science. I feel like it is sort of a shot in the dark. There are a lot of glaring weaknesses in my application. I have a low quantitative score on my GRE, little research experience, and my undergraduate university isn't particularly well known. I applied to Syracuse, Rutgers, Temple, Suny Stony Brook, and Suny Binghamton. I am now toying around with the idea of applying to master's programs in case I get across the board rejections from the PhD programs. It's just very frustrating. I'm pretty much out of steam after doing the PhD apps. It doesn't seem like anyone has heard from the schools I applied to, so I can at least take solace in that I guess? I guess my post didn't really have a point, but it's nice to jump in on the discussion with people who "get it."
