I applied last year and it was one essay per school, with no additional general CSDCAS essay. I can't say for sure it hasn't changed but I'd definitely contact them before going through the trouble.

SLP - Letters of Recommendation from whom?
MaxSLP replied to jglauser's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
If you're going to use Linguistics professors, I might aim for those who specialize in Phonetics or Phonology but yes, I assume it would be to your advantage to get to know your SLP faculty. -
Would you mind expanding on this? I'm contemplating buying a tablet and I know very little about the non-Mac tablets, but I'm curious. What do you use the nexus 7 for and what do you like about it?

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to meet you.

Which school are you attending in the fall & why?

Rock on, tchris. Sounds like you found the perfect fit of quality and cost. If you decide you want to leave Georgia afterwards, you'll have no problem. Isn't it nice knowing we'll likely be in demand wherever we go? -

I'll be attending the Med SLP program at the U of Washington, because I love moving across a continent and amassing large amounts of debt. Seriously though, it's a great program, with everything I could want in terms of research, facilities and faculty and I know I would've ended up specializing in MedSLP eventually, so I might as well get started early. It's also a city I love from my visits. My wife and I are looking at Grad school as an opportunity to find a permanent home and we're hoping Seattle will be the one. -

For those on the wait list, I'm Admitted but will be declining. Congrats sayjo! Is this your top choice? You have some great options. -
Thank you. Good luck to you too. And also to everyone on the waitlist.

Well, I did it. I've accepted the offer to UW. I'm committed now. If you plan on attending, send me a message. I know very few people out in Seattle and I'd love to meet my future classmates.

I'm almost certain it's a factor but none of us will be able to tell you how big of a factor, so you really can't bank on it.

I recieved an acceptance email in late February. I'm not sure if they're all done with first round acceptances but I know one other student who hasn't heard from them yet. I'll just say that I agree with everything MNIJ said except about the area which I don't really know about. I'll add that they even have their own preschool program in the same building. So yeah, it's a great place for clinical training.

Papaya, thanks for all the info. I was aware of some of that, but I haven't been able to visit the program and it sounds like you have first-hand knowledge about the place. I guess, living in Tacoma, you would. I knew about the four placements and that's a great point as far as building contacts. I'm strongly leaning towards going. It's going to be a stressful cross-country move but even beyond the quality of the program, I love Seattle and so does my wife. My dog hates the rain but he'll have to get over that. I really hope you get in off the waiting list. If you do and you attend, we need to be in touch over the summer. If you get excited about an electrolarynx, you're my kind of people.

So, I need some advice. I've been really fortunate to get into a few great programs. I've narrowed it down to four: MGH, Maryland-College Park, Temple and just yesterday I got accepted to University of Washington MedSLP. I know, I'm one lucky SOB. My question to you guys is, if I think I belong in a medical setting, is it a no-brainer to go to UW? Moving shouldn't be too much of an issue. For argument's sake, let's say money isn't an issue (though of course it is).
