[strwhatn"olioliwoo" post=1058109885" timestamp="1394807143] Fulbright I believed announced this via Twitter and I saw it again more recently on the gradcafe Fulbright NatGeo forum.

Whoa~~~~~! That's a lot for five spots! How did you find out the total?
-
The great manatee was definitely needed...especially during this election season haha Despite work and other things I have going on in my life to keep me busy, Fulbright is still the first thing on my mind in the mornings and the last thing on my mind before I go to sleep lol
-
Congratulations!!!! :-) but i think they still have to send us stuff in the mail even if we do get an email notification. Maybe it's apart of the procedure? Idk.. Lol
-
Kbui, yessssssss! Totally feel the same way! Haha gotta stay positive!
-
Whoa whoa whoa~~~ people! I just looked at the spread sheet again and noticed someone got news from the European union yesterday (Mar. 10). Sad to see another rejection on the list but good to see that some notifications are being sent out! Hoping for the best for everyone on here~! Korea hopefuls~~~ Mar 12th to Apr. 17th is fair game for our notifications; especially the last week of March! Let's go! Aja! Aja!

People are starting to crack under pressure...and somewhere, Fulbright commissions are just laughing at us haha Or maybe it's stressful on their end too? The way I see it, if it's taking some countries longer than usual to make some decisions, the competition must be really fierce this year.
-
Noooooooooo, the survey we're referring to is from January like raymondnorth said. The email I got a few days ago was from IIE but it was an alumni newsletter (though I thought it might be....THE FINAL NOTIFICATION ...dun dun dun!!!) lol But unless you've gotten your final notification, you have nothing to worry about
-
That should be an official Fulbright rule - not sending any emails of any kind unless it's an actual update on your application. Other than that, it's just torture lol. Someone should hear SOMETHING this week... hopefully. They seem to be running a bit behind this year. Even the preliminary notifications came out much later than last year. I wonder why....?

I received an email from IIE not too long ago.....turns out it was just an alumni newsletter. Such a TEASE!!! hahaha

Hey There GnosisExchange, According to the spreadsheet, we could hear something back from Korea anytime between March 12th and mid-April. I'm actually applying for full research but I think they give us the news at the same time or at least within 24hrs of each other. My guess is since some applicants who are awarded a Fulbright still have to apply for graduate schools in Korea (starting as early as April or May) in order to fully receive the Fulbright scholarship, Korea has to send notifications out sometime this week or by the end of March so that we can prepare properly. However, anything is possible. These are just my own conclusions here lol But I'm getting pretty anxious at this point haha I hope everyone is holding up pretty well with this torturous wait! And I sincerely tip my hat off to those who have applied more than once. You guys truly have the patience of saints hahaha

Hey there minusthehare, Well, Secret_Ninja is a Principle candidate since the person was select. Then of course there are the other possible notifications of being an alternate (A) or a non-select (N). I was just drawing a conclusion from the email which had "Your Fulbright Application (P)" in the subject line. I'm not sure if that was just a fluke or if that's just something Indonesia was doing for their candidates. Just an observation. Sorry to confuse you :-)
-
Congratulations Secret_Ninja!!! :D But wait... that weird "(P)" in the subject line... so now all we have to do is look for a (P), (A), or (N) in our subject line for our answer? Oh...not sure if I'm ready for my notification now. I don't want to be "slapped" with the news in a subject line...I want to ease into my email and look/hope for the "Congratulations".... LOL!
-
Congratulations fiajoc!!! glad to hear more news of acceptance! Btw, it seems that Ireland (2/25/14) was first to send out final selection notifications this year according to the google doc. 2.5 countries down, so many more to go~~~!
-
Torrid and tieloran, THANK YOU!!! I totally did a "fan-girl" scream when I saw the "congratulations." Then I remembered I wasn't reading my email hahaha Soon!!! Congratulations to the applicants that heard some news today! Knowing is better than waiting lol An a double congratulations to those who got the grant/ETA! I hope they keep those precious emails rollin'! Is it too much to ask Fulbright to release notifications of 3 countries minimum a day? haha Wishful thinking...
-
Hey, I know this is random, but has anyone been successful in finding a post on a previous Fulbright forum showing what principle, alternate, and/or non-select emails look like? I found an alternate email but not the others... Just thought I'd find a new way to torture myself with the wait hahaha
-
Hi everyone! I don't know about you, but February drove me crazy with waiting haha But now it's March! You know what that means? Final selection season is truly upon us! I suspect that the first notifications might be given out as early as March 3rd (Monday) like our timeline says! Good luck to everyone!

Hi there, Well, I didn't send my transcripts from Korea. From my understanding, you don't have to send in your transcripts from abroad. In the link for further information about sending transcripts for recommended candidates, it says the following: 1) Submitting Official Transcripts All applicants recommended for final review must submit official, hard-copy transcripts to document their academic work. BA-level candidates: Submit undergraduate transcript from the Bachelor Degree-granting institution. Study abroad transcripts are NOT required. MA-level candidates: Submit final undergraduate transcript that confirms receipt of a Bachelor Degree. Submit transcript from Master’s Degree institution regardless of whether or not the degree has been received yet. PhD-level candidates: Submit final undergraduate transcript that confirms receipt of a Bachelor Degree. Submit transcript from Master’s Degree institution (if applicable). Submit transcript from PhD Degree institution regardless of whether or not the degree has been received yet. I hope that helps a bit!

Hey there fellow applicant! :-D Yes, the waiting has been driving me insane. So, I've jammed pack my schedule with lots of things to do so that I won't stare at the Fulbright website all day. However, in my crazy obsession (haha), I happen to have an answer to your question. This is for people who are going abroad for the study grant, but please call and ask to see if it applies for ETAs. Here's the quote: "It is understood and agreed that, if conditions beyond the control of the United States Department of State prevent or unduly hamper the timely and adequate implementation of the grant, the granteemay be reassigned to another country agreed to by the grantee and the grant issuing organization. Financial terms will be adjusted in accordance with the schedule in the country to which the grantee is reassigned. Factors affecting reassignment include timely request, qualifications, time remaining in grant, and timeliness of proposed host country clearance process. In the event such a reassignment is not satisfactorily arranged, the grantee, if abroad, will be provided not to exceed the equivalent of one month's grant benefits beyond the date of departure from the host country. If the grantee has not departed from the United States and if no mutually acceptable assignment can be arranged all rights and obligations shall cease ." (pg. 5, #7) Here's the link where you can read more about terms and conditions: http://us.fulbrightonline.org/uploads/files/pregrantees/2013/Fulbright_Terms-Conditions.pdf I hope that helps! :-)

Is there anyone else here applying for a grant in South Korea? Congrats to everyone who past the preliminaries!
-
Hi There! Finally, someone else who shares my pain! haha Yes! I am applying for one of those 10 precious graduate awards. I've studied the Fulbright statistics quite a bit and out of the East Asia category, South Korea is the 5th most popular and is at 30th place (give or take a few countries) for popularity over all. Over the years, it seems that for scholarly work in Korea, they accept about half of their applicants. So I think we might have a 50/50 chance of getting it. I past the preliminaries (got the news on Jan. 28th) and now I'm biting my nails for the final results haha Good luck to you!
