Finally just got my rejection from one of my McGill apps. I was kind of expecting it and am expecting the other one to get rejected soon, but it still sucks (especially since I know people with lower GPAs and no extracurriculars, etc. who were accepted!). #soreloser I don't even know what I'm going to do if the only school I get into is my safety school... =s

I didn't sit tight. I just emailed Dr. Tomc. Hopefully, I get some kind of response. Even if it's a rejection, I just want to KNOW already.

Congrats, both of you! I'm not sure if it would be a good idea for me to email them again. I emailed them about two weeks ago now and was told that they "should have [their] news out by the end of the month." Should I just sit tight?

The freak outs are getting more frequent. I emailed both Mcgill and UBC just to check in and to know when to expect to hear back - UBC replied saying by the end of the month, Mcgill still hasn't replied to anything. I saw on the results page that someone else contacted UBC and was told that they'd been accepted directly by the same person who replied to my email. With McGill, my applications do still say "In Review" on the online system but I'm pretty sure everyone who has gotten in has already heard back from them. It's not that Concordia isn't a good school, but I definitely only applied there as a safety. My GPA is decent (3.76) and I am extremely involved with my university community in areas that are directly linked to what I want to research. I want to research, in simple terms, on the intersection of queer and canadian identities in contemporary canadian literature. I've been the admin of the university's on-campus queer resource centre and safe space for the past two years, I'm a poetry editor for the english undergrad departmental journal, I'm a trained workshop facilitator, and I founded a journal of queer literature and arts just over a year ago (that I'm also the editor in chief for). I definitely had good recommendations and had several people look over my SoP. I don't know what I've done wrong. ahhh. I'm just a sad, anxious kitten. I also have to give Concordia my answer by the 1st. /endrant =C

I still haven't heard anything from McGill, which is worrying me. I have a friend who applied to the same program and has heard back and I've seen a few McGill MA English acceptances on the results page as well. If I had been accepted, I assume I would have heard at the same time as everyone else . Anyway, congrats you two! I'm still waiting for official news and still crossing my fingers for UBC.

got an acceptance to Concordia today, no funding (not surprised, quebec universities give out very little funding, especially in English Lit). Still hoping for something better (UBC <3) but at least I know I have a future!

I've applied to Masters programs in English Lit at UBC, McGill, and Concordia and haven't heard back from any yet and the anxiety is growing by the day. Any news from these universities and/or in English Lit from anyone on here?
