  1. Deciding between Duke, Rutgers, and the University of Florida. Do engineering rankings matter? If they do, UF is my top option, it has an excellent materials program. But if school name matters more in terms of getting a job and career advancement, then should I consider Duke more? Duke is about twice the price though. Rutgers is another good option, they have a decent program and they will fund me. What do you all think?
  2. Hmm, that's strange. I think you're on the wait list. They don't want you to wait if you have other offers, and they don't want you to change your mind on those schools. They haven't made a decision in case they get less enrollees than they expected or get more funding than they expected. At least that's what I got from that response. I contacted UT Austin about my admissions and they basically said the same thing. They can't make any additional offers until after the 15th, when they have a better idea about funding. They told me to make a decision that's best for me given that information. I think I've decided on UFL, the program is great and the weather should be pretty nice. Anyone have any experiences with this program, either for undergrad or masters? Anything I should consider before going? I am also considering Duke for a MEng but it's really expensive and they're more renowned for their BME program than materials.
  3. Currently deciding between UFlorida, Duke and Rutgers. All masters programs, but Duke's is a MEng. I've been told that for PhD your advisor matters more, but for masters, program/institution is more important. With that in mind, UF provides me the best option right?
  4. Oh I guess I should add, the e-mail said to make own travel plans but to keep receipts for reuimbursement. I don't know if this is typical thing they do but I figured I'd add that fact if it means anything.
  5. Is anyone applying to Rutgers for either MS or PhD? I got invited to an open house today, but I think it might just be a generic invitation to anyone who is applying because I haven't received an admit yet. The deadline for the application hasn't even happened yet. I guess this is just an opportunity for students to get to see who they could possibly work with? Yeah I think that's what it is, the e-mail wasn't even addressed to me, it was addressed to "prospective graduate student". Oh well I guess I just wanted to see if anyone else got the e-mail, and if you're going.
