  1. Well I think I have very low chances for their MSE at this point because its very late, I have already almost made a decision. Are you in contact with your POI? Its pretty weird you have not heard an answer yet for Phd but they will probably offer you MSE spot if you dont get admit for Phd so hang in there
  2. I have yet to receive notification from umich regarding the masters:) From what I have seen they send mass admits and then rejections come like later in april.
  3. So I have admission offers from these two schools for a Master's degree at this point with plan to continue for a Phd. I know they are both top notch and you really cant go wrong with any of these choices. However, I would like some advice in what I should choose. Funding is not a problem, costs are quite equal and research opportunities are huge there. My main concern is social life. I value social life quite a lot and from what I have seen GAtech is quite poor on this aspect. On the other hand, leaving in a big city like Atlanta gives you much more opportunities than a small city like Lafayette. I feel I am leaning towards Purdue though, what do you think?
  4. The numbers you refer to are for Phd applicants right? U have any idea about MSE?
  5. Saw couple of admissions in the results page for Michigan MSE on 17th March. I have not received any notification, what about the rest of you? Smells like a reject
  6. Great, thanks for the advice. I ll make some contacts
  7. I have applied for the master's, still no clue what is going on. If someone gets any update let us know. I guess they should answer soon.
  8. i have applied for MSE in Aerospace Engineering programs in various good ranking schools and I am still waiting for the majority of my offers. So far, there have been no funding offers which I am not greatly surprised with, because I come from a very low reputation international school and i want to switch to research different that what I did for my undergrad. Thing is tuition and all the expenses at Purdue for example go up around 45k$ per year all included. Which considering the program is a 2-year one, its a hell lot of money for someone to invest. I also doubt I have it to be honest. Because I assume the rest of my offers will also be unfunded, I want to ask what are generally the chances of securing some kind of funding (probably in the way of an RA, since I want to continue with Phd after). I have the ability to support myself for the first semester, but what happens next? What are the chances that professors will actually be helpful when u start knocking doors? I know it is a great program with good reputation etc but at least securing the tuition somehow seems quite necessary.
  9. Sure, i got accepted for this program as well even though I applied for MS and wanted to continue with Phd. Well, a professor must guarantee funding for you in order to jump over to the thesis program and I have heard that is pretty tough to happen. They just want you to pay full tuition for one year and then who knows. I will probably reject it. Felt really awful, because I have done 5-years in my undergrad and I have done a thesis as well, so it would be weird for me to do a M.S degree without thesis. On the other hand, if you are not interested in research afterwards it is a good start to get into the industry i guess in a quick way.
