  1. I called the office and spoke to one of the employees, who essentially said that to her knowledge the first round acceptances had been sent out and that those who had not heard anything yet were on an unofficial waitlist for reassessment by the head of the department (who is away at a conference and will be back next week.) So we're unlikely to hear anything until a week today. I didn't get a sense of the numbers, though, sorry! She wouldn't say.
  2. Called Queen's today to inquire about my status and was told that the first round of MPA admissions and the rejections had been released... And that if I hadn't heard, I was still in consideration-- ie., the "unofficial waitlist." I'm excited to not have been rejected! But now I'm less than thrilled to be waiting, haha
  3. As someone on the Queen's MPA waiting list, might I suggest Carleton? Honestly, I think they're both wonderful programs-- and both are very highly regarded. The advantage of Carleton being that you're right in the seat of government and it will probably be easier to secure the kind of connections that can land you a job in government later, if you're aiming for that. You're liable to get well-connected either way, but based on my internship at the Canadian Senate I would have to say that more than half of the people I spoke to in staffing positions graduated from Carleton's MAPA.
  4. Thank you very much! And congratulations to you on your acceptance!
  5. Who did you have to call in order to get that information? Any chance you could pass that number along? I'm thinking I might do the same myself tomorrow, haha
  6. Montreal has lots of great places to live if you're willing to live a little further than walking distance from the university. (In your case, outside the "Concordia bubble.") Try looking near Atwater Metro and Lionel-Groulx; they're only a few minutes from Concordia's main campus and the rent is much more affordable then nearer.
  7. If OP presents this or something like it, then yeah, definitely. Definitely understandable, and most easily solved by (I would imagine) a phone call or an email to the department director in charge of admissions, same as any other inquiry. But it seems a little callous to ask for a rejection-- without explicitly or even implicitly citing a reason-- in a forum where most people are begging for acceptances. Kind of along the lines of "How do I run a slower mile? People are complaining that I'm too fast!" in a fitness forum or "How do I get a lower return on my investments?" in a finance forum. Time and place, I think.
  8. This is the definition of a non-problem. If you don't want to go, withdraw or turn down the offer!
  9. Damn-- really? Here I was thinking they'd have most of the decisions made in the next few weeks!!! I guess that's the trouble with the delayed admission dates... But if that's true I can probably stop panic-checking my email with such fervent intensity. Or not, honestly, probably not.
  10. As someone currently attending McGill: the administration is so far beyond useless it's a joke. You might hear back from them within the week, but if you don't and you're in Montreal you may actually find it worthwhile to come to the campus in person and make some inquiries. It's much harder for them to dodge you in person.
  11. Mine is still reading "Application Complete" online instead of any "Decision Made" comments... Well, hopefully they're deliberating on exactly how best to accept me, hahaha. Thank you for that, though, that's good to know.
  12. Unfortunately I was a little disappointed to have received my first answer back-- a rejection from SFU's MPP program. Fortunately I still have three more schools to go (Toronto, McMaster and Queen's.) Has anyone heard anything from Queen's? Based on the results search it really seems like they're taking their sweet time.
  13. Applied to Simon Fraser (MPP), University of Toronto (MPP), McMaster/Guelph (MPPA) and Queen's (MPA). Haven't heard anything back from anyone, but the applications only went in at the end of January so I suppose I'll be waiting for at least another couple of weeks.
