  1. So I think to make this more interesting/less anxious, we should make predictions on which day we'll find out the results. While I'd love for it to be tomorrow, I predict this Friday afternoon.
  2. It's going to be a tight turnaround for those who need to resubmit. I think I've read somewhere that in the past, the turnaround between notification and next award deadline has been as narrow as a week. If I have to resubmit, the Office of Sponsored Programs is going to have a fit! I still think we won't find out until next week.
  3. Thanks, far_to_go. I hope we all do better with WG! I am happy with getting through the first round on my first attempt. I feel like even if I get declined this time, there is hope for next time, right? I talked with my advisor about the reviews, and she said unlike NSF senior research proposals, the DDIG panels consist of certain individuals who are not specialists. For example, my project looks at brain evolution and she said it's really rare that an NSF DDIG panel has an expert in anything related to the brain. She also said there were some comments that showed the panel's lack of knowledge on the subject. But I guess it's our job to make sure they understand our proposal. Not sure about whether to apply again. Will all depend on WG.
  4. No word about Wenner Gren, but I did get declined from NSF today. Knew it was a long shot.

    NSF DDIG

My review date was 2/6. I had a status date change of 3/7, and just heard I was declined. Another student on this forum hear on 3/10, so I'm not sure why there is such a discrepancy since my reviews were uploaded on 2/27. I did receive pretty positive, helpful comments. Good luck to those still in the running!
  6. I agree. The first-round notice went out a week later than usual, so that's why I'm guessing it won't be until at least next week. I've found some other funding as well, but my project will cost about $30,000 so I need one of the big ones (Wenner Gren or NSF). Sigh.
  7. No news here either. Unfortunately, I need grant funding to complete my project. It's very expensive (lots of primary antibodies). I'm guessing we won't hear until next week though.
  8. Congrats!! It's so nice when you get to ABD. Now, if we can only clear the funding hurdle. . .
  9. I agree with both of you! I'm waiting on NSF (bio anth) and Wenner Gren, and the wait is driving me crazy. We should know for sure about Wenner Gren within three weeks (they seemed a little late with the first round notifications, so I'm not holding my breath for next week). How did your comps defense go, Nrrdgrrl?

Anyone hear positively or negatively about the bio anth DDIG (Nov 2013 deadline)?

Applied to the November 2013 deadline. External review date 2/6/14. Status date change 3/7/14. Still pending. . . wish they would get the "rejection" over with quickly.

Still pending, but I think it's only a matter of time for the rejection. Congrats on your Fulbright Fellow! I'm still in the running for Wenner Gren (passed round 1), so fingers crossed.

I applied to the DDIG for biological anthropology (November 15 deadline). My external review panel date was 2/6/14, and I just noticed this morning that my status date, which was 11/16/13, has now changed to 3/7/14 with status still listed as pending. I'm assuming since I haven't heard by email or phone yet (haven't checked voicemail but assume they also would call my PI, who would have let me know) from my program officer that this means I will be receiving a rejection notice within the next week or so? Anyone else have a status change and hear one way or the other yet?
  14. My advisor just received an email that I made it through to the second round; however, I still have not received the email myself though we're on the same email system.
