  1. I realize that this is the GradCafe equivalent of "first world problems," but is anyone else having a hard time clicking the button or checking the box to decline an admission offer? I picked a program that seems like the right fit for me, but I keep thinking, what if this school is actually better/has more to offer/has better job placement/is where I was meant to go? So much anxiety. Anyone else experiencing this? Any advice?
  2. I don't get it. I know people who heard almost 2 weeks ago, and a bunch who were rejected last week. The deadline for most schools is tomorrow, and I haven't heard a peep from QC either way. The line has been, "We notify candidates when a decision has been made." Is anyone else still waiting to hear from QC either way? I'm starting to think my application is lost under a desk somewhere. Whatever happens, there's a difference between "selective and exclusive" and "unprofessional." This is the latter. When you know a deadline is approaching, to keep a bunch of people (or is it just me?) hanging without an answer is just wrong. Really sours me on the whole program.
  3. I'm a bit naive on this. Just wondering if anyone know which schools in the NY/NJ area (including CUNY and SUNY) have good or bad health insurance plans for full time students. Particularly interested in Buffalo State College, New Paltz, Hunter, and Brooklyn College. You can see my list of schools below. Any others there that you may have some insight on would be appreciated as well! Thanks!
  4. Just curious, do you guys go to QC now or did you do your undergrad elsewhere?
  5. Congrats dude! I was rooting for you and knew you'd get in somewhere.
  6. Another acceptance - St. John's! That's four acceptances in two days!! Wow, never would have thought that
  7. I have. I was accepted on March 24 via email, got a letter a few days later. My interview was on the 11th. Did you call to find out your status?
  8. Accepted at Brooklyn! Can't believe I've almost heard from everywhere by now! Decision time is right around the corner...
  9. Got my acceptance emails from Montclair State AND New Paltz today!! That should make us all happy, because I probably won't be attending either one - two more spots for someone else!
  10. Thank you! This is great - so helpful! I've been to Buffalo a few times before, and it seems really nice for the most part. I've been to Duff's. so at least I know I'm in good company!
  11. It says "Decision Made" for me as well! Fingers crossed for some more good news
  12. Thanks for the advice! Now the most important question: Anchor Bar or Duff's?
  13. Anyone hear from SJU? I got an email on Friday that said "Now that you've been accepted" and was asking me if I knew I was going to enroll, if I was going somewhere else, or if I was unsure. There was also an option to make a deposit. Thing is, I never received an email, letter, or phone call actually saying I was accepted. Just confused. Hoping someone else may have heard or got a similar email?
  14. That's exciting! Did you receive an email letting you know, or did you log in to see?
  15. Just heard this afternoon by regular mail. Letter was dated March 18.
  16. Just got my letter of acceptance in the mail today! So funny we were just talking about it less than 24 hours ago. Hope everyone else hears good news as well!
  17. Just got my acceptance email from Hunter College!!! So excited to have offers from 2 great in-state programs! Now the question becomes...stay in the big city or shuffle off to Buffalo??
  18. As far as suburbs, I was looking at like Depew or Amherst. I'll definitely have a car, so what's the rush hour traffic situation like, and are there any areas where it's hard to find parking? Which neighborhoods would say to avoid from a safety perspective?
  19. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! It would be great to kinda "know" someone before getting up there. As for places to live, I've heard good things about Elmwood Village. Where would you recommend or not recommend looking for a place? I'm looking for someplace that isn't overcrowded but still a busy and walkable neighborhood, and most importantly safe. On the other hand, what are some nice suburbs outside of Buffalo that would make for an easy commute? Just looking for a good starting point! Thanks!!!
  20. Amanda, this is a great thread! I'm new to the forum and haven't really had a chance to get to know too many handles yet, but it's really nice to see what looks like such a supportive online community. I'm Mike, and I grew up on Long Island. I'm 31 (yikes!) and this is my second go around in college after getting my first degree from Syracuse in broadcast journalism. I've worked as a sports play-by-play announcer for the past 9 years (still working) and went back for my undergrad prereqs when I decided to pursue speech. At the time, I was just looking for a change and was hoping this was it, but I've been in love with the field since my first day of classes, and now I can't wait to become a full-fledged SLP! Starting grad school in the Fall, and hoping to stay where I am now, so fingers crossed. Very lucky that I already have options either way. Look forward to hearing from more of you, and best of luck to everyone!!!
  21. I know someone who's gotten into New Paltz already but I haven't heard. Then again, I didn't submit my application until the final week, so maybe it's a "rolling admissions" type deal where the earlier you applied, the earlier you get in?
