  1. I think they review the application again. But if the department recommended you for admission, I would think that it is unlikely that CGSR would reject you.
  2. Gathering from what you are saying, I guess every single program and university in Canada is for "spoiled little rich kids". Saying this program is for "spoiled little rich kids" is a false claim as Canada provides financial support to students who need it, i.e. OSAP/student loans. Canada has the highest rate of students graduating from Post-Secondary in the world and it's not because this program and other graduate programs are just for "spoiled little rich kids".
  3. I completely agree with you. Even if there are individuals who are immigrants or international students in the program, which I believe there should be, it should not be considered as something negative. As I mentioned previously, it brings perspective and diversity.
  4. You have made some interesting points there. But I don't know how "Around 70-80% of the class is immigrants" is relevant to the actual program. If anything, it brings diversity and perspective, something that the field of Public Health supports and advocates for.
  5. Thank you CanMPH2014! I think I read that students are sometimes stipend for their practicum, whereas other schools don't. They also have the distance program. Those could be possible reasons why it is popular.
  6. It depends on whether I get offers from other schools. I have heard great things about the Usask MPH program and it is quite competitive. I think a previous post indicated that close to 700 apply! That is more than UofT and UBC, they get under 400. Every school has something different to offer so it makes it difficult to make a decision.
  7. Their process is a little confusing. But I do not think it is alphabetical as my name would be at the bottom of the list. I applied back in early February and heard back from them last week, similar to your situation, bstar. This leads me to believe that they follow the "first come, first review" basis. Those who applied earlier may hear back earlier. Just my opinion.
  8. Hi there, U of Guelph receives about 250 applications and admits 25 applicants.
  9. Hi there, From what I understand and have read from previous years, it takes about a couple weeks for the CGSR to review recommended applications and once they have been approved, you receive a confirmation/acceptance email. Hope this helps, and if anyone knows more about the process, please add.
  10. No Problemo! But maybe email just to confirm. Congrats again on your accomplishment! =)
  11. Under the FAQs on the Applications page for the MPH program, it states that "Department Recommend" means you are accepted!
  12. Congratulations, I am sure that means you are recommended for admissions, but it is conditional, based on you submitting you final transcript and finishing up your courses.
  13. I was recommended for admission at UBC via email.
  14. That is amazing! Congrats!
  15. Someone on the "Results Search" got accepted to UBC via email. Keep your eyes out for those who applied to UBC!
  16. And what are your top school choices?
  17. Waiting it out is really torturous! How is everyone passing the time?
  18. Thanks for the feedback
  19. Hi there, Do you mind sharing what your stats are? GPA, experience.
