  1. I just want to let you know that I got in to CSULB even with a low quant score on my GRE (144), and 154. I also did not attend CSULB for my undergrad. They don't accept letters of recommendation either. GPA was 3.7. So there is a chance! A small chance true, but it can't hurt to apply. I got into the special cohurt so that may have made a difference

  2. For those that are going to CSULA or live in LA, what areas/neighborhoods are good to live in around the school? I'll be moving from San Diego in August/September. Any kind of advice/input would be awesome!

I have some suggestions - Silverlake, Eaglerock, some parts of Highland park, Pasadena, Glendale, . . . Not sure about East of CSULA, but I think Duatre is nice  - don't hold me to that though

  3. I'm moving to Westwood to live with my fiance who goes to UCLA! It is a really nice, cute neighborhood with neat restaurants, movie theaters, and other stuff all in walking distance. The rent is expensive relative to neighborhoods to the south and east. It's a thirty minute drive to CSULA.

Sorry this might not be very helpful to you if you're trying to live closer to campus. But if for some reason you end up living in West LA, let me know because I'll be looking for a carpool buddy! Same to everyone else! :)

Westwood is a great area!  But just, fyi, if you are travelling to CSULA from westwood, it takes about 25-30 min without traffic (which would probably be only from about 10am-2pm), otherwise it will take about 45-60 minutes.

  4. Do you guys mind sharing your GPA/GRE who got accepted into CSULA?

    What are their requirements?

Got waitlisted at CSULA, it is also my current school where I am finishing my certificate program.  My GPA is 3.8, GRE was not high at all (quant score is a little embarrassing), verbal 154, quant 144.

I know after this year, they are moving to a point system where you get points for certain activites - i.e. attending NSHLA mtgs, etc.

This year I'm not sure what they were looking for, but I believe there is some emphasis on extracurricular involvement

  5. AHH! that's great news! Congratulations! I know that was your first choice! My interview went well (I hope!). I thought it was a group interview but mine ended up being just me in the interview although there was another girl waiting as well. They told me I should hear by this week. So I've been pretty anxious today & yesterday. However, they also said if we don't hear this week it doesn't necessarily mean we didn't get in bc they're still doing interviews.

But you got your notice in the mail?? I'm gonna go straight home & check when I can! so nervous.

    Congrats, again!

Hey, did you not hear from CSUN yet?  I got a rejection email (it was in my junk mail) a while back. Still crossing my fingers for you!

  6. ZIGGY, I'm sorry I just got this response. My interview went ok, although very short, even with us 3 in the interview. They only sake 3 questions and only about 1 article of 2 they had us prepare for. I dk if there was enough time to make an impression. So I'm crossing my fingers! They said they won't decide until July 14th. Quill check their portal now though due to the other responses I see here.

I hope yours went well! Was it similar to mine? Rushed? I really hope to be there with you!

  8. Hello all- I am in the certificate program at CSULA and applied for the masters here, CSULA, CSUN, CSULB (special cohort), and NOVA distance program. I interviewed at CSULA in March and was notified by end oh March that I was waitlisted. They already have made decisions as of April 14. CSUN notified me mid April that I was rejected :(. CSULB traditional program made decisions as well. BUT, Their special cohort program has not, they extendended applications til June 1st, however they contacted me for an interview last week!!!!! My interview is on Thursday. My last chance! They sent 2 articles for me to review and "be prepared to discuss". Super nervous!

  9. Sorry to hear about CSUN.  To tell you the truth, it is my undergrad and it is not a very good program.  There is no structure to the Grad program as you can tell on their website.  You are not guaranteed classes.  So don't be sad about CSUN.   :)  Good luck on those last 2!!!   :)

Thanks!  I actually went to CSUN for my undergrad in Business Mgt.  But that was a while ago.  I'm not so surprised I got rejected, but it still sucks if I don't get in anywhere.  Congrats to you!  And there's always next year for me . . .
