  1. People have posted on the results page http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=speech+Ohio+state&t=a&o=d I emailed OSU last week and was told that they have accepted students and rejected students and that they may not be able to offer admission to any more students until after they 15th. She recommended if I have been accepted elsewhere to accept my offer. So it seems like those of us who have not heard are essentially waitlisted. I know this isn't the best news but I hope it is helpful. Best of luck to you.
  2. I hope everyone has a great time at the open house today. Would love an update since I can't attend.
  3. I am from Indiana so I just drove in and out when I went to visit I didn't actually spend much time on campus or in Lafayette. It was the first school I visited and I didn't think I wold actually get accepted so I didn't explore as much as I should have. I got a great impression from both the students and faculty who spoke. After my acceptance I looked back over my notes from the meeting and much of what I wrote was about exciting things that would be coming with the new building. I would love to hear how the open house goes.
  4. Are there others out there who still have yet to hear from Ohio State?
  5. I hope we all get funding that would be amazing!! I still have yet to hear from three schools but unless there is some crazy funding offer from one of them I will be attending Purdue this fall. I really wish I could attend the open house and meet everyone. I did visit in 2013 but they were still building Lyles-Porter Hall which looks beautiful from the pictures I have seen.
  6. I was accepted but I don't think I will be able to make it from L.A. I was able to visit the campus for an open house but that was before they had the new clinic.
  7. Thanks @jwurth! I hope I hear from them soon. I would love to attend and the anticipation is killing me.
  8. I see you were accepted there. Have you checked your buckeye link to see if the form is in your to-do list?
  9. Yes, that is the form I was talking about. So, I'm sure it has nothing to do with any likelihood of getting accepted. @jwurth I see you are an undergrad there. Have you received a response from them? My application is still pending.
  10. It was from the financial aid office. Did you submit the FAFSA? It may have nothing to do with a spot in the program but of course it got my hopes up.
  11. Has anyone else who applied to OSU received an email about a Graduate Assistance Form they need to fill out? Wondering if this is going out to all the applicants.
  12. I am out-of-field so as I was looking for grad programs last year I found a post-bac that was a great fit for me that I started in January and will be done in November just in time to apply for grad school next year.
  13. I visited both schools this year. They were both really wonderful. One thing Purdue had that IU didn't was that they will have a brand new facility like Waiting mentioned. I remember that really stood out to me because most likely you will pretty much live there Both seemed like excellent programs. The scholarship sounds like it would give you an extra 10-20 hours a week to do class work that would be spent on the GA. Best of luck making a choice!
  14. It was always something that was talked about. There was not a specific class but we did focus on some of the basic anatomy in a Voice for the Stage class. My voice teachers were probably the most the most vocal (no pun intended) in talking about vocal health. Most of the students, myself included, were pretty obsessive about vocal health. That certainly continued on into my career and it is certainly one of the things that led me to wanting to be an SLP.
  15. I got my undergrad in Musical Theatre and have been performing full time professionally (mostly musical threatre) since I graduated five years ago. I have always loved the human voice and thats what led me to working to become an SLP. I am currently working on my post-bac and would love to hear from some of you who may know about grad schools that do a lot of work with voice/ voice disorders or the trans-gender community. I really have interest in working with professional voice users, or possibly trans-gender voice feminization. If anyone knows of programs that have any sort of focus in these areas I would love some leads on where to start looking for grad school.
  16. Chapman also has a program to become a SLPA but it is only for those who have gone through their post-bac program.
  17. Good luck with a decision! I'm really surprised IU hasn't told anyone about funding yet. Do you think they wait to see if anyone declines the offer of admission? I have read somewhere on the forums that for some schools once they offer funding if a person declines the offer they can't pass on that funding to another student. I hope a good pros and cons list leads you to the right school!!
  18. I hope everyone is surviving being waitlisted and maybe even received an acceptance or two to soften the blow. Hopefully just a another month or so of waiting good thing I have tons of anatomy to study to keep me busy! ha
  19. Thanks thats what I was guessing was the case. I am really curious about how many people they wait-list and if they accept a few more people than they have spots for. I'm sure they won't give any of that info but it sure would be nice to know if there are 20 people on the wait-list or 100. Luckily, I am waiting out the next six weeks in sunny Southern California instead of the Midwest.
  20. Sorry about Purdue. Have you heard from either of the other Indiana schools? My visit to Ball State was a little odd. She basically said they don't care about SoP or Letters of Rec as long as they aren't bad they just pick they highest GREs and GPAs. Didn't really seem like they care to put any time into choosing applicants but I suppose every school is different. I LOVED IU when I visited but I'm on the wait-list.
  21. I was also wait-listed at Indiana University. I tried calling the number that was in the letter but I got her voicemail...seven times...oops...too much?! I just wanted to talk to someone before the weekend. But I finally left her a voice mail and I will post here if I can get any info on the amount of people on the wait-list and if it is weighted. If anyone else hears anything help an anxiety prone graduate applicant out and post it here
