Hi Jesandre30,
Yeah, it certainly does feel good knowing I got accepted elsewhere. It speaks more to the intense competition at the U of M rather than my total lack of competence as an applicant. I got accepted both into the MSW program at St. Cloud State University and the joint program at St. Catherine University/University of St. Thomas -- the latter was far and away my #1 program of choice if money were no object. I think I'll be attending this Autumn, but am still considering if St. Cloud's more general program just makes more financial sense.
I didn't receive any specific reason for rejection, and assume it was simply due to the large pool of applicants. They admit a cohort of 120, and said they receive anywhere from 350-450 applications per year. Seemed a bit facetious to me, but it puts the acceptance rate somewhere between one-third to one-fourth of applicants being accepted. Having looked neurotically at all postings and results concerning the school, it seems like the longer you wait, the better the chance of getting in. Rejections seem to get weeded out first. If you're still in final review, I think it's a really good sign for you
Good luck, and I hope your wait is almost over.
