  1. I don't really understand how 1 year Master's programs work? We have to take all this coursework AND commit to research as well? It sounds intense. I accepted Berkeley. Their program is also 1 year (9 months if you decide not to TA). The typical masters coursework is 5 courses if I am not mistaken right? Also, where are you finally headed? CMU?
  2. Well it is 9 months if you decide not to TA. Otherwise, you'll need the summer too! I accepted the offer. I had offers from UIUC and UofT too. I also had rejections from MIT and Stanford.
  3. I have acceptance from UC Berkley, and their Masters program (in Structures) is 2-3 semesters too. I am actually happy though , since this is my last degree. It means I can get it sooner!
  4. Thanks! Yea, I am probably going for Berkley (even though I am still waiting for Stanford). After having the coldest winter of my life, I can't say no to California's weather.
  5. I got accepted to University of Illinois at UC for MS but no funding. Acceptances are: - Berkley, MS - University of Toronto, MASc Rejections: - MIT, MS
  6. I was born in Iran but I have lived in Canada for most of my life. 14 universities? Wow that's expensive. I applied to 5.
  7. Nice nice. I did my Bachelors at University of Toronto. We got a lot of people from Iran. Mostly from SUT though. Most of my TA's were from SUT (surprisingly). I think after the Chinese, Iranian's have the largest presence in engineering graduate degrees. If you can take the cold, you should apply for UofT. They are pretty good in their acceptance of Iranians (we have good record here).
  8. Yea, I got an email on that too. This sucks. What is the tuition for MS in Civil Engineering for internationals? Do you happen to know?
  9. Same here. Have you received your financial infos? I am still waiting on them...
  10. Did they officially announce that they were not funding you at UC Berkeley? Or they just didn't talk about it? Because I have gotten an admission, but have not heard anything about funding? They said in their admission letter that decisions on fundings will follow up in another email. So should I be disappointed? Or do I have hopes of receiving funding?
  11. Thanks! The Grad Cafe Admission Results site, shows people who are accepted on the 28th of February. Are you sure?
  12. Thanks Mostafa! GRE: V:154, Q:165, A: 4.0 GPA: 3.81 Work/Research: 8 months internship & 12 months research, and 1 publication. Regarding fundings, they said on their admission letter that they will send another letter with information on funding. No funding decisions were made at the time of admissions.
  13. I got admitted to UofT and UC Berkeley. I applied to MIT (I know, not good for structural, but for the reputation), UIUC, and Stanford. I read in other forums that MIT is sending out all its MS admissions by the first week of March. So I am checking my email every minute... Good luck to all.
  14. I personally find people's acceptance news interesting. So here is mine: (And I have listed them based on my preference) All applications are for MS / MASc in Structural Engineering (more specifically Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering). MIT - Waiting Stanford - Waiting UC Berkeley - Admitted UIUC - Waiting UofT - Waiting (the prof said he will accept me, but I don't have an official acceptance yet). Anyone else check their emails like 50 times a day?
