On UCLA CEE site it says three quarters....3 semesters I can very well understand. But an MS with thesis in 9 months. Hard to believe, is not it. I am thinking it could be a typing mistake.
I applied to Berkeley too. But it was ambitious, may be too ambitious. Do you have any results pendingÉ
Well it is 9 months if you decide not to TA. Otherwise, you'll need the summer too! I accepted the offer. I had offers from UIUC and UofT too. I also had rejections from MIT and Stanford.

I have an acceptance from CEE at UCLA. On the CEE, UCLA website it says the average time to finish the program is 3 quarters. This is something that doesn't make sense to me at all. I am guessing it is probably a typing mistake because for all other branches Mech., Chem. etc the average time to finish is shown to be 5 quarters.
Can somebody help me out here?
I have acceptance from UC Berkley, and their Masters program (in Structures) is 2-3 semesters too. I am actually happy though , since this is my last degree. It means I can get it sooner!

Wow. Congratulation!
I hope UIUC could reject me now because my professor recommended me to a professor there that she is familar with. But I decided to go to Gatech now.
Thanks! Yea, I am probably going for Berkley (even though I am still waiting for Stanford). After having the coldest winter of my life, I can't say no to California's weather.

I got accepted to University of Illinois at UC for MS but no funding.
Acceptances are:
- Berkley, MS
- University of Toronto, MASc
Rejections:
- MIT, MS

Actually I wanted to apply for UofT and Alberta in Canada. However after applying for 14 universities, I did not have enough energy to go for 3 more, needless to mention that getting recommendation from professors was a pain in the end! . So, just out of curiosity, where are you from?
I was born in Iran but I have lived in Canada for most of my life. 14 universities? Wow that's expensive. I applied to 5.

Thanks a lot. It doesn't mean anything though. And No. For Bachelor and my first master, I was in UT.
Nice nice. I did my Bachelors at University of Toronto. We got a lot of people from Iran. Mostly from SUT though. Most of my TA's were from SUT (surprisingly). I think after the Chinese, Iranian's have the largest presence in engineering graduate degrees. If you can take the cold, you should apply for UofT. They are pretty good in their acceptance of Iranians (we have good record here).

Hey Guys. I have had my first acceptance today from Rice University. However the offer is without funding due to "the state of national economy". So basically it means rejection!
Congrats. By the way, are you applying from SUT?

I don't know if that is all of the department although I know people who already have offers for structures and environmental. I think international is just out of state 26-28K I think
Haha, better than I thought!

So for Berkeley I never heard anything so I called to discuss and was told that all the funding offer were already sent out. I also received another email from a POI confirming the decision. I would just email or call though to know for sure.
Yea, I got an email on that too. This sucks. What is the tuition for MS in Civil Engineering for internationals? Do you happen to know?

Just got the official decision today! It says financial info comes from the dept separately...
Same here. Have you received your financial infos? I am still waiting on them...

Sooo.... Updates
Illinois - Accepted (funding pending)
Berkeley - Accepted (unfunded )
Washington Seattle - Visiting/Interview (March 12th) High hopes, I was told they do not accept PhD without at least some partial funding so at least I won't have a Berkeley situation.
MIT - No Contact (anyone heard from them, do they conduct interviews? I know visitation is not until April)
Michigan - No Contact (implied rejection or wait list since interview/visit weekend is in two weeks)
Texas - Unofficial Acceptance - (possible tuition waiver)
Did they officially announce that they were not funding you at UC Berkeley? Or they just didn't talk about it? Because I have gotten an admission, but have not heard anything about funding? They said in their admission letter that decisions on fundings will follow up in another email. So should I be disappointed? Or do I have hopes of receiving funding?

It Seems that the M.Eng program is much easier. Some of my friends got their admission letters.
Continue to wait for other schools .
amirali223, I think your background is very competitive, Hope you can get your dream school.
Thanks! You too!

MIT released their admission Decisions. Got the expected Rejection letter.....
Same here...

Congratulation! I heard that Stanford mailed their admission decisions through mail!!!! And they sent them out on 18. Feb. Can not believe that. But I still got nothing or heard anything from Stanford....
Thanks! The Grad Cafe Admission Results site, shows people who are accepted on the 28th of February. Are you sure?

Congratulations Amirali. Can you kindly put your stats too? Have you received any funding?
Thanks Mostafa!
GRE: V:154, Q:165, A: 4.0
GPA: 3.81
Work/Research: 8 months internship & 12 months research, and 1 publication.
Regarding fundings, they said on their admission letter that they will send another letter with information on funding. No funding decisions were made at the time of admissions.

I got admitted to UofT and UC Berkeley.
I applied to MIT (I know, not good for structural, but for the reputation), UIUC, and Stanford. I read in other forums that MIT is sending out all its MS admissions by the first week of March. So I am checking my email every minute...
Good luck to all.

I personally find people's acceptance news interesting. So here is mine: (And I have listed them based on my preference)
All applications are for MS / MASc in Structural Engineering (more specifically Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering).
MIT - Waiting
Stanford - Waiting
UC Berkeley - Admitted
UIUC - Waiting
UofT - Waiting (the prof said he will accept me, but I don't have an official acceptance yet).
Anyone else check their emails like 50 times a day?

I don't really understand how 1 year Master's programs work? We have to take all this coursework AND commit to research as well? It sounds intense. I accepted Berkeley. Their program is also 1 year (9 months if you decide not to TA). The typical masters coursework is 5 courses if I am not mistaken right? Also, where are you finally headed? CMU?
