It sounds like you want a serious quant focus and since you specifically mentioned management and finance I would def say Heinz. Chicago def has the research advantage but I'm not sure about the total package for your wants.
I visited Humphrey and was impressed. UM seems to have a strong research presence and Humphrey is a strong part of that. I met a few faculty members and all seemed very engaged with the students and there seemed to be plenty of research and opportunities for one on one interaction. Humphrey also has nice funding packages for its students and seems to be very interested in promoting its students.
I keep hearing similar comments, esp about it providing pratical knowledge and being respected by those working in the field. Keep the comments coming everyone!
I am wondering about this also as I have applied. I went to a reception that they hosted in my area and met the Dean and some alumni. Overall, I had a good impression but agree that it is hard to get in a general feeling about the program especially on here.
I am about two years out of college and am applying for next fall. I think a lot of PPIAers will eithier be applying within the two year timeline or are attending other professional programs (MBA, JD, etc.) in that timeframe. My cohort is split with about 30% of ppl continuing with the MPP in my estimations.
