  1. Second years start August 29th and I think you guys will as well
  2. Congrats! the group on facebook is called "University of Alberta - Speech Pathology - Class of 2017"
  3. This was my second year applying so here is some general advice : Small changes in your application can make a big difference! I increased my subGPA from a 3.65 to a 3.75 and had completed all prereqs before submitting my application this year. You will be disadvantaged at U of A (and possibly other schools) if you have multiple prereqs in progress at the time of applying. I also got more hours shadowing an SLP and accumulated more volunteer hours. I participated in a volunteer trip to Central America this December to work at a project for children with special needs. I also got a new reference letter and I think it was significantly better than any of my letters from last year's application. Another thing I did was spend A LOT more time on my letter of intent/personal statement for each school. It might help to have one of your references look over it Schools also value research experience so I would suggest working/volunteering in a psychology or neuroscience lab if you do not have a lot of experience in this setting. I was really discouraged when I didn't get in anywhere last year but if anything it just gave me more motivation to improve my application and get in this year! So don't give up!!! You will get in
  4. Does anyone know if there is a facebook group started for U of A yet?
  5. I think so. I registered for courses a couple days ago and all the classes are only offered at one time. Labs were broken into two or three different time slots though so they are smaller.
  6. I've also accepted the offer I think you might have received the same email as I did earlier today!
  7. Where are you guys seeing your status as "invited"? Is it on the main page under Registration?? I just activated mine yesterday and right now it just says no registration history.
  8. I just got mine too! I'm way too excited about this
  9. Mine says the same thing. They contact us by email on April 1st so maybe our status online will never be updated? I got nervous when I saw that as well so I'm glad I'm not the only one
  10. Thanks CaraL When I was on the waitlist last year they would not provide me with any information (such as how many people were on the waitlist or where I placed on the list). It was definitely a frustrating experience!
  11. I was waitlisted at Dal last year on April 4th, so it might be a couple weeks before anyone on the wait-list finds out!
  12. I'm not sure if this is the same article but here is a survey from 2010 that has lots of info : http://sac-oac.ca/sites/default/files/resources/university_survey_%202010_speech_0.pdf
  13. Congrats on your acceptance Dal is a great school!! I'm curious about the clinical hours for Dal... I also looked on the SAC website and it states that Dal has an expected number of 130 (full-time equivalent) days of clinical placement, whereas U of T has 150 and U of A has 151-191. This survey was from 2010 though so maybe the information is outdated?
  14. I'm really surprised no one else has heard from Dal yet (other than toriec). I live in Halifax, graduated from Dal and know quite a few people who applied to their SLP program so it makes me think they haven't sent out all their offers of admission yet?
  15. Congrats! People usually always get in off the waitlist so you definitely have a chance it all depends on the year I guess. I hope you get in!!
