  1. I applied to Hofstra for a teaching degree in ESL. The funny thing is I applied for fall 2010 admission but I sent out all of my applications at the end of November 2009 (I just wanted to get them over and done with).
  2. I had a phone interview yesterday with the program director for a grad school that ranks somewhere in the middle of my top choices. The interview lasted about ten minutes and she basically told me that I'm in pending, of course, the other committee members approval. We then scheduled a follow up interview for next week where she said she wanted to plan out things like enrollment, classes, and scheduling. I haven't heard from two of my top schools yet and I'm trying to think of the best and most professional way to say "Your school is one of my top choices but I want to wait for other decisions to come through first before making any commitments." Any suggestions?
  3. So here's my deal: I graduated from Penn State with an IT degree and with a 3.3 GPA in 2004. I've been steadily working at a well known investment company for the past five and a half years and now I want to start teaching English (ESL to be exact). What are my chances of getting into Columbia Teachers College and NYU Steinhardt? I got two recommendation letters from co-workers senior to me (one a tech lead and one a project manager). I'm just scared that my crap GPA in school will come back to bite me.
