  1. I got funding too. And I chose them over GW and other schools. If you are studying health policy, I think it's a great choice. Why pay sticker? Also, you can try to apply to the GA positions as well at NYU. The only issue I have with NYU is the cost of living, but i'll live like a pauper for the next two years.
  2. Agree with Hedong. It would be very difficult to get into those schools even with a perfect GRE score. A graduate certificate may help. You may also want to explain why your grades are so low, maybe you were sick, or whatever. But I would look at schools outside the top ten to get an admit. You are also unlikely to get any sort of money. The other option you may want to do, is work a few more years, the more years of work experience the easier it is for the adcoms to ignore that GPA.
  3. Nice, so am I. I will probably focus on international health. What are you doing about housing? Do you plan on getting a part time job or assistantship??? I've been looking in the Hoboken, Jersey City area for apartments.
  4. Just accepted NYU Wagner offer. Anyone else attending????
  5. I just want to comment on the comment about UC being better than NYU. I don't think there is that much of a gap between the schools, if you want to work in Chicago, to there, if you want NY, especially if you want to work for organizations like the Rockefeller Foundation (as do I btw), then NYU is a no brainer. BUT, again it comes down to cost, both will probably get you to where you want to go. Just an FYI, apartments in NY are EXPENSIVE, I am currently looking now, and from what I see I am looking at rent of 1800 to 2k even in surrounding areas, I will share the costs with SO, but that's still 1k a month!
  6. Wow...I am actually in the same situation, although I am def attending. I also surprisingly received $$. My advice is think very carefully about what you REALLY want to do before pursuing grad school, and if you can get to where you need to get to without going for the MPA. My take is that I think it's worth it at top tier schools, and Maxwell seems to fall in there, so I don't think there is that big of a risk, especially if you're making less than 50k a year. I do think for what you want to do (stay in the public sector) an MPA with your work experience would be a great asset...good luck
  7. Hello, I am having a difficult time deciding between the two. both are for health policy but with variations in courses and both would get me to where I would to go. The email from GW did not state anything about funding so I am assuming I did not receive any, I know they have asistantships to help, but how easy is it to get one of these? NYU gave me money and definitely has a great name. It's difficult to turn down this money and go to GW at sticker. Can anyone provide any insight???
  8. I am probably headed to NYU, if funding is an issue, you should contact the admissions office about asistantship opportunities. If NYU is your first choice, you should stress that to them. As far as the school itself, it seems like a very good school, with great networking and name recognition in the private and public field. I don't know much about IUB to give you any insight.
  9. Your an idiot.....seriously though, take the money....I would assume UMICH grads not going to DC is because of self selection....if you want to get back to to CA I'm sure UM will get you there.....debt free is always better....
  10. Just got scholly money email...pretty significant...It's my top choice now......Good luck everyone.... Edit...I don't have to do PER.....
  11. Ugh, this is tough, Nova has a great name here in the states. What is it that u want to do? I'd be inclined to take the money and go to Nova. You still have to consider cost of living too. I personally don't think it's worth going into that much debt.....free is always good....
  12. I was on the site, it says that if you were required to fulfill the PER requirement, your decision letter would have stated it.....did anyone have to fulfill the PER requirement???
  13. Yes, that's what I was referring to. I'm not sure what kind if work experience they require, I have almost 6 years in pharma, I hope that qualifies.....I also hope I get some $$$ it would be difficult to go at sticker....
  14. Did anyone's second email provide a mention of the PER requirement?
  15. Just got the email, I'm In!!
