I would also like to use this opportunity to transfer to a better ranking program. Do you think my professor would notice ?

I am currently doing a masters with a research thesis in a physical science, but I want to move out of the area due to personal reasons. Also I am sick of research. Is it possible for me to transfer to a course work only masters at a different school? Will my current professors be offended if I asked for a letter of recommendation for the new place ?
