  1. Regarding accreditation status of schools, I found this link: http://www.asha.org/academic/accreditation/caaDecisions/ Very comprehensive list and updated < 2 weeks ago ... William Paterson is listed as having been RE-accredited December 1st 2013 (please correct me if I am reading this wrong). So, as to whatever their issues are in turning the lights out on any status or outbound communications, who knows what's going on? Maybe still partying from the good news back in December ... Tried calling the right folks over there AGAIN today and still no one picks up the phone. Amazing.
  2. @BlarneyStone87 @plmgis @thirdchild012 .... Thank you so much. Really appreciate the info and guidance. All - Can anyone say for sure what is happening this year with Montclair and either emails or Postal Mails or both? Still seems unclear from the results page and it should be a simple question. Does everyone get an email and then a postal mailing regardless of whether they are accepted, wait listed, or rejected?
  3. Called over to WPU today and finally got someone to answer the phone who at least was sympathetic to our plight here, and knew enough to tell me that... ...this is their 1st year processing people's Apps through CSDCAS (instead of direct with the school I assume)... and that the general graduate admissions dept that had handled the CSD students in years past ... wasn't doing that anymore ... it's all in the hands of the CSD dept personnel now (the woman kept stating that she couldn't tell me anything about me or anyone else's status)... and the CSD personnel are the ones that haven't been answering their listed phones for weeks... and that same nice person I spoke to said ... checking App status online w/the WPU web site directly was pretty much useless (cause of the CSDCAS thing) ... and at least 1 of the 3 people she referred me to via phone ... was on VAC this week... bless her, at least she new enough to pour cold water on my hopes for hearing any time soon. So between changing their admissions process or mechanism in the last year, Spring Break getting in the way, and perpetual out of office schedules of the folks making the decisions that matter the most ... it's getting too old for me now. My gut is that WPU just has everyone else not notified in the March 10 "wave" on an unofficial wait list of sorts (without bothering to notify anyone) until they get their ducks in a row and figure out what they're doing. They're such a small local program, maybe they have enough commits already. The epitome of frustration.
  4. On that psych major deal - did you at least minor in SLP? I am beginning to actually wonder about all of us getting BA's in SLP almost being at a disadvantage to those who didn't do that and might be considered somewhat more well rounded or different in some positive way... sigh... its always something, isn't it? lol ...
  5. The advisor here at our university cautioned us that we'd have to repeat seven - yes, seven - classes - in the Montclair State program. So that's 7 classes worth of undergrad studies paid for once ... which need to be paid for again (and no, I don't attend a less competitive school, quite the opposite actually, lest anyone be speculating that's the reason). For what it's worth. So Montclair for me (if I get in, still no email received here yet) would be more like 3 1/2 years ... heck, maybe they'll accept me based on that - cause I'd have to pay for more credits and help the bottom line!!! LOL
  6. @argslp, @finslp, @jesstrom - Thanks so much. I am still "under review" as of today (same as you jessstrom)... sigh.
  7. @finlsjp and @argslp - Just checking back-in on this thread. Still haven't heard anything and apparently no one else here (at TGC) has either since the notifications sent on or about 3/10. Starting to lose hope that they already filled their few slots and are now taking their time with the "sad path" notifications (rejections and wait lists). Unlike nearly every other NJ school I've called, it's also nearly impossible to get anyone on the phone over at WPU (in the CSD dept). for the last couple of weeks. I just want to ask one question. Frustrating. Anyways - quick question - before your notification, did your online application / admissions status change at WPU (if you checked)? My own has no status at all other than some of my personal details (name, phone #, etc...) and I don't know if that means "processed" or something else is amiss that I didn't see before ... I am 99.999% sure my App was considered complete when I had checked through the common App. I'd taken an undergraduate class at WPU a couple of years back, so hopefully nothing's been confused with that record. Thanks and continued good luck on making your decisions on where to attend.
  8. All - Can anyone reply back on the longest period of time a wait listed student waited before an acceptance (that you know about)? Spoke to one school today about it, and was actually told it could take as long as July or August if there is still unresolved issues about a spot in a particular class ... is that true? Cause it sounds like once you're wait listed and April 15th has come and gone ... and there's no May 1 deposit deadline like there is for Undergrad... it literally is a waiting period with no bounds other than the start of the next academic term... Also - is there any such thing as a wait list that IS in a particular order? Seems like all the schools say the same thing - we have a wait list but its not in any particular order. How the heck do they even decide whom to take from the list when a spot does become available?
  9. @smrv - Yes, I am pretty sure that is what I was told when I called - US mail - and I think they said that was for either an acceptance, wait list or rejection (which would be a lot of postage! lol). Also I edited my post above cause I got Seton Hall confused with another school that definitely said 1st two weeks of April... Seton Hall wasn't as specific on that, hence... the mid-April target. The way these Graduate programs seem to do their own thing to get down to the perfect student body that they want, I wouldn't be surprised if they change their minds and make phone calls instead like you say! Ha! The SHU accept rate is low cause of the undegrads already there continuing on into the Graduate program...similar to what I think someone also said about WPU. With those reserved spots "gone" from the rest of us, the accept rate gets into the really microscopic range, like some of the 'elite' NYC programs (NYU. Columbia).
  10. @Ssen - my understanding is via postal mail sent mid-April. And as per another post in this thread, a very low acceptance rate (considering the demand they received in terms of # of applications) ...
  11. Found this link which explains "April 15th" - https://www.cgsnet.org/april-15-resolution (this is posted in other threads here, so it's not new from me). From what (I think) that link also says, if you accept an admissions offer prior to April 15th, the offer becomes binding, once April 15th passes ... Now's making more sense how schools can drag this process out pretty much as long as they feel, considering some of the horror stories in other threads about May and June acceptances, or even longer, especially when wait lists are factored into the larger picture. It's simple supply and demand for the schools, and a business for them as well...
  12. Exactly. One thing that's also encouraging me is that I didn't apply to as many local schools in my home area (just out of sheer ignorance what was around here that offered SLP or CSD), which I would definitely apply to next time around. GRE prep would include a prep course or tutor this time, and when I would apply to those other schools (and a handful of the ones from the 1st go-around), I'm hoping to have an even stronger GPA once my final undergraduate semester is factored in. Lastly, it was encouraging to see that parent of an SLP make the post which noted work experience or time spent between completing undergrad and starting Graduate study was viewed as a positive in some ways. Would also tweak my Personal Statement essay as well, but under less stress, of course. And having understanding and cooperative parents helps tremendously.
  13. @Stephanie2323... it does seem that way... lol Speaking of local schools, I noticed that Iona up in New Rochelle, NY also offers an MA in CSD... but Iona seems rarely spoken about in these forums... but is that cause they're also in the process of seeking accreditation (per their web site)? Just an assumption. If I whiff on all my applications this time around, I was thinking of applying there next time, as they're not as far from my home as some of the LI schools are... Comments anyone?
  14. Nearly all the NJ schools seem to be in this same frustrating, lethargic timeline for admissions notifications. I am hoping its because they're trying to figure out how to accommodate more students than in year's past. My own expectations are that we'll hear more frequent news from all of them in early April... at best. Just a gut feel about this coming week being somewhat slow as well. I hope I am wrong.
  15. Was poking around the web and just learned that Stockton's program is pending accreditation at this time, according to their own web site: http://intraweb.stockton.edu/eyos/page.cfm?siteID=73&pageID=284 (for what it's worth) ...
  16. @finlsjp - Thanks for your thoughtfulness.... it will definitely benefit one of us out here somewhere :-) All - Sorry if I am being a captain obvious but a quick check of 2013 WPU notification results would seem to indicate the March 2014 notifications were a lot EARLIER than last year. Those same results seem to indicate that WPU accepts a microscopically small # of kids that did not attend their undergraduate programs... So... combined with the small size of the program overall, .... I am hoping they found a way to expand the # of spots in their program, to meet a bit more of the obviously increased demand (which all SLP / CD programs are apparently seeing). Everyone - Please, if you don't want to go to this place, let them know as soon as you can (like finjlsp did), to free up spots for us local kids that really do want to go there. Thanks!!
  17. On topic for NY schools - anyone hear any updates out of St. John's? Compared to the 2013 notifications logged in this forum for them, seems like they're notifying much later in 2014 for some reason... I doubt it (since all northeast schools are so competitive now), but did a lot of people give up on even applying cause of that program administrator whom is reportedly such a hard woman on the GRE scores and in general, is so challenging and difficult (as stated in earlier posts here)? If what one of the earlier posters said about GRE scores and that woman are true, I might as well not worry too much on hearing anything positive back from them... Is the St. John's program THAT good, or is that just what THEY feel?
  18. WPU was on Spring Break this past week, so hopefully next week, notification activity will pick up its pace. By the way - does anyone know where WPU's Graduate Admissions rates or stats are posted for the communication disorders program? How many applicants do they typically accept out of how many Applicants overall? I think I read somewhere the class size was 48 or so.
  19. I called Kean today asking about their notification schedule, they confirmed that no notifications had gone out yet, and since they were on Spring Break last week, perhaps Graduate Admissions processing took a back seat for awhile. My own application status was still "under review" when the woman looked it up. So ... Kean is looking like an April notification ... same as what another poster here said in another thread about 2013. And as for WPU - also called today (finally got someone to answer the phone) and they've been on Spring Break this past week, so hopefully things will pick up speed next week.
  20. While on the topic of NJ schools - does anyone know when Kean plans to send out notifications (at least in larger numbers)? Their app deadline was 2/03 and there are only a couple of updates on this site, both rejections (by snail mail, no less)... I looked all over the Web and found zero about Kean's expected schedule to let us all know. Just about all the other NJ SLP Grad schools are being talked about in more detail here by more people ... (SHU and it's re-accreditation and typically late notifications, Montclair State having just concluded its App deadline on 3/01, WPU's "rounds" of email notifications having begun, Stockton has been notifying and requesting interviews, Monmouth being recently accredited). I did read some really good things about the Kean program in this forum .... from posts made in 2013.
  21. @finjslp - WPU - Thanks so much for all the replies. Looking at the calendar and then the 24th date you were given (and assuming others were given that deadline as well), it certainly looks to me that the next "round" won't happen until WPU gets a sense of whom is accepting their admissions offers from the 1st round, and how many openings they have left after that. (Sigh). ESU - I don't know much about East Stroudsburg by comparison, but those already accepted there, and having posted here on this site, seem pretty happy and stoked about it! Also I didn't see any rejections posted from ESU yet (odd) but I did see a couple from WPU. FWIW, USN ranks ESU slightly ahead of WPU (204 vs. 229). http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-health-schools/pathology-rankings/page+9 (WPU is on page 10). Seton Hall - a another thread here with recent posts regarding what seems to be going on with SHU. Grab a snickers, it's going to be awhile.
  22. @finjlsp - For WPU, March 24th? I am still waiting to hear (and today is the 18th). So I assume that depending on the "round" in which you're notified, if accepted, they give you two weeks to say either 'yes' or 'no'? @finjslp - For SHU, I overheard someone on campus today say they called Seton Hall asking about a notification timeline, and was told that notifications wouldn't go out until sometime in APRIL, maybe even late April. For both schools - based on the "Submit your results" (Survey) link at TGC here, no one has heard from WPU since 3/12 (meaning, not this week); no one has heard from SHU yet, at all in 2014... both fit w/the above.
  23. @finjslp - Thanks so much. Mine wasn't totally complete and verified until early/mid January (before the 15th) but I got a 2/26 email as well saying the same thing... so much for my theory on the scheduling of notifications! Ugh. The waiting is horrible.
  24. @finjslp - Can you tell me when your App was "complete" at WPU? Just trying to gauge when I might hear back from them ... (assuming its sequential)... Or anyone else, regardless of admissions status. E.g., if last week's notifications were from Apps that were complete back in ... mid / late December 2013? Thanks. Really want to get into WPU, its my 1st choice.
  25. @Stephanie2323 - It appears they are from what I can see in this forum, I am still waiting as well (my App wasn't 'complete' at WPU until mid-January when I got back to school due to some administrative missteps (on the "origin" end, let's leave it at that ) ... but some of my classmates have already heard back - All rejections thus far, sadly. But that matches what I've seen here - the 1st notifications appearing 3/10 - 3/14... @finjslp - Congratulations !!! All - an earlier post said WPU was sending out their notifications in "rounds" .. if anyone knows the context of what that means, I am all ears. Also, I am an NJ resident attending school out of state. Anyone know if WPU favors the non NJ student more than the NJ student? (similar to what I read in an earlier post about Montclair State and its love for the "outside of NJ" applicant pool)...
