  1. Hi everyone, I would appreciate it if anyone has any advice regarding these two programs (Cornell M.Eng. vs Columbia M.S.) for a Master's in Biomedical Engineering. I have recently been admitted into both schools, and I'm having trouble deciding which to attend (deadline quickly approaching) My goal is to work in the pharmaceutical industry. (I do not plan to get a PHD) Can anyone shed some light on the difference between M.Eng. and an M.S. Will it matter in the long run? Are they "looked at" differently? I looked online for the differences, but I would greatly value any insight that any of you personally have. If anyone has any questions for me I'd also be glad to answer. Thanks.
  2. Hi everyone, I got a letter from Cornell today from the department I applied to and they said they have recommended me to the Graduate school for admission. Does this mean I'm in? If anyone has any experience with this or knows anything about it I would appreciate the advice. Thanks.
  3. I posted in the other thread you posted in, but I guess I'll post here also in case you don't notice the other one. If you provide everyone here with your GPA and GRE's we might have a better idea of your chances.
  4. Hey all, The Cornell University online application allows me to provide an optional writing sample (I am applying for Engineering). Does anyone know if "optional" actually means recommended? If so, any ideas on what type of writing sample I should provide? (ie: research writing sample, English class writing sample, etc.) Thanks.
  5. If you provide your GPA and GRE scores then people might have a better idea of your chances.
  6. Hey everyone, Does anyone have any information about Cornell's M. Eng. graduate program? If you are currently in it or have a friend that's in it please share anything about it. I am applying for the M.Eng. in Biomedical Engineering. I heard M. Eng. is generally easier to get accepted into as opposed to a M.S. or PHD. Is this true? My stats are: Undergrad GPA: 3.4 Major GPA: 3.5 GRE: 720Q,550V,5.0 AW (or 780Q, 410V, 5.5 AW) (which should I submit when applying?) If anyone has any opinions or advice I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. I emailed them asking for averages of those who get accepted but they didn't provide me with any information.
  7. Hi. I understand that, but I'm specifically talking about the graduate school applications. They allow you to enter one test date for GRE's with your scores corresponding to that test date. So I have to decide which scores would work better.
  8. Hey everyone, I would appreciate if anyone has any input about choosing which score to use for applications. 1st score: 1190 (780Q, 410V, 5.5 AW) 2nd score: 1270 (720Q, 550V) I am applying to a Master's for Biomedical Engineering at Cornell U, Columbia U, and Rutgers U. Realistically, are these scores good enough as long as I have a competitive GPA, letters, and research experience? I am also not sure which score is *better* to use for engineering. I have heard that engineering cares more about Quantitative, but is that still true with such a low Verbal score of 410? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Hey all, A lot of you seem to have great advice about Graduate school. I'm planning on applying to schools for a Master's in Biomedical Engineering; however, I feel like my chances of getting accepted went down a lot since I've taken my GRE. I got 780Q and 410V. I was wondering how much this low score would affect my chances of acceptance. I have a 3.4 GPA in undergrad at a public state school with research experience . I was hoping to apply to Rutgers University, Cornell, and Columbia for an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering. Can anyone with any experience on this share their advice/predictions? I've heard mixed comments about engineering schools not taking verbal as much into consideration, but I feel like the 410V just doesn't cut it. I've registered for the GRE again at the end of December, but I'm afraid my Quant score will go down while trying to improve my Verbal score. Thus, I want to make sure that I have no chance, or very little chance, of getting into these schools before taking the risk of retaking. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
  10. I found Princeton Review's "Cracking the GRE" to be helpful. I only studied the Math Section from it though, but I got a 780 on Quant. I have a pretty good math background (Engineering major), but there were still a lot of small tricks that I was able to learn from it. Definitely helped me from making stupid/small mistakes.
