  1. Im heading there. Already accepted my decision and applied for my I20 (I am from India). I know the program is fresh but the flexibility on offer is incomparable. One has ample freedom in taking all kinds of course from the reputed schools in Cornell. Plus the institute is working very hard on its reputation and spending loads of money, which is always a good sign.

  5. Does anyone know about PhD programs in Public Policy? I noticed that the major schools like HKS, WWS and Harris have it but it seems very very competitive. Any ideas about some less competitive programs? I am interested in urban and environmental policy but the major schools seem quite a stretch with my background. Also does one need a masters to apply? Any observations on this will be very helpful.
  6. No i didnt apply, but i didnt end up going last year. I am quite keen on applying for the fall 2011 intake. I am mostly concerned about the scholarships and the international outlook of the program (since i am from india)
  7. Has anyone applied for the fulbright scholarship to study in the US? I am from India and am not sure what their selection criteria is ... anyone got any ideas about this

  9. I was considering applying to the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University. They also have a MPP program at the Mundus MAPP. Does anyknow how the school is - ranking, flexibility, career prospects etc.
  10. Congrats DCApplicant... glad you have made your decision. i'm still undecided between CIPA and JHU IPS, i'm leaning more toward CIPA because it has the cornell brand name and its a more flexible program... but i've heard the research opportunities at JHU are better and easier to procur while they are almost non existant for masters students at CIPA... i really need to make the call soon.
  11. My line of thinking is similar to 'Green Tea'. I am comparing it to the Cornell CIPA program which is turning out to be somewhat cheaper. I check the forum chains on JHU IPS for last year... It does sound very enticing!
  12. Your not the only one... im still waiting. I emailed them during the week to inquire and they said there were some issues regarding the receipt of my ETS scores. They also said all decisions will be send by the end of this week. There is still hope.
  13. Hi, I have been accepted into international development program. Its a masters in development practice, not a masters in public policy/affairs. im not sure if that has any effect on your job prospects in the future. The HHHI looks quite good on the website. The number of research opportunities seem ample which i something i am looking for. However I'm keen on returning to asia after my program and am interested to know how recognized it is in Asia. My biggest concern is whether i'll be able to stay in Minnesota with its cold weather. Right now im staying 2 degrees north of the equator in Asia.
  14. Congrats guys... i've still not heard and am trying find hope somewhere. Any of you successful applicants for the MPA/ID degree?
  15. I think if you want to teach at University level then you should probably consider a PhD program. Otherwise my inclination would be toward Syracuse, for its ranking, prestige and longer history in the field.
  16. Hi folks, I recieved an acceptance from the Johns Hopkins Institute for Policy Studies. I haven't heard this being mentioned much on the forums. Does anyone have any idea about the program. I am also an international student and plan to come back to Asia once I'm done with my studies. I'd like to hear from others what they think of the school. thanks in advance.
  17. Congrats all those who have gotten through!! I haven't heard back yet but am keeping my fingers crossed. Btw have any international students gotten through? I'm just wondering cause i'm international myself.
  18. I think HKS will only notify ppl in April and if I'm not wrong its going to be all sent in a single day, unlike other places which send the rejections first or send the acceptances in a rolling manner... so i guess we have to be patient for at least another month and a half!
  19. This may be a silly and unrelated question, but does any of you know what a mason fellow is?
  20. Sorry about the post above, something wrong with my computer... anyways, HKS is supposed to get back to applicants in feb? I thought they wont say anything before Mar?
  21. Hey, Do you folks have any idea about CIPA's policy on admission deferment. Since I am an international student, I need to figure out other ways in which I can fund the rest of the cost of CIPA, if do go there. I wonder whether they will defer the fellowships also. I'd appreciate any help on this. thanks
