  1. Perhaps finish this Language Aquisition prerequisite before January 15 when applications are due. If the course is in progress at the time of application, they'll immediately take you out!
  2. That's rough that they told you the spring course would be fine. It seems like there may have been some miscommunication. Did your letter have the same paragraph as mine? Their reasoning makes no sense to me, but I suppose it's to help them narrow down somehow? But I guess even if the course was in progress and almost finished it wouldn't have been considered anyway.
  3. Hey guys! Rejected at U of Alberta (as expected), but what's rough is what information was included in my rejection letter: Completeness of the application was also a factor in selection. Applicants who had multiple prerequisites in progress were disadvantaged when compared to those with completed preparatory coursework. When preparatory courses have been completed, the Admissions Committee can be more confident that the applicant has the basic knowledge necessary to succeed in our challenging training program. Not to be petty, but I really feel like this was a low blow. I wish they would include this information in part of their Admissions section on their website. I feel like they've used it as an excuse to narrow the applicant pool this year. Plus, as I'm finishing the last of my prerequisite courses within the next few days, wouldn't my knowledge of these concepts be fresher than someone who had finished them in past years? Really disappointed with U of A. I hope there are future applicants out there who read this and see it before they apply (if their prerequisites happen to be in progress)!
  4. I support this forest/jungle idea. You'd be one with nature! And if you need any employees, I'll need a job too
  5. I got this response from U of T for anyone still waiting: Please be informed all admission decisions will be sent via Canada Post today.
  6. Hey guys! I also got a refusal letter from McGill, with these comments, in case they're helpful to anyone: Commun Sciences & Disorders Additional comments, if applicable: The program is extremely competitive. We typically receive over 360 applications, but can accept only about 27 students (<10%). The admissions process is very thorough and involves 6-8 faculty members. Files are initially filtered based on completion or documented plan for completion of our listed prerequisites, and submission of all required components of an application as outlined in detail on our website. Then the bottom 20% (approximately) of files based on cumulative GPA are removed from consideration given the vast number of applications we receive and the comprehensive review we conduct. Remaining files are submitted to multiple rounds of independent reviewing, where faculty evaluate two broad components of each file: 1) academic achievements and potential and 2) professional experience and potential. Candidates offered admission will have exceptional ratings for both of these components. Every year we are unable to accept many excellent candidates. We thank you for your application and wish you the best for your future.
