  1. Thanks so much for the info!
  2. Hey all! Looks like I'll be attending Syracuse Maxwell this Fall (MAIR)! I can't wait to get started! Anyone have any advice regarding housing? I'm currently abroad and won't be back till August and I hear most housing close to campus is taken by then. I know there's stuff online, but advice from people who know the area would be great since I'll have to choose my housing blind. Anyone care to chat on facebook? PM me. Hope to connect with future classmates!
  3. Thank you for your replies! Do you guys think if I already have a lot of study/work abroad experience that Syracuse would not be as good of a choice as Denver? I really like Syracuse's study abroad options, especially if I can go to schools in the Middle East during my last 2 terms. I think this would both help my language skills (Arabic and Farsi) as well as getting contacts. However, if I already have abroad experience, would it be better to use that to bolster my theoretical knowledge at Denver? I'd most likely be working in analysis with the government.
  4. Hi all, I've been fortunate enough to receive a full 2-year tuition fellowship from Korbel for MA in Security Studies and a full tuition fellowship + 12k stipend from Syracuse, Maxwell MAIR program. I am torn since I know Korbel has a better rep for Security Studies, but Maxwell is giving me more money plus I can finish in 16 months vs Korbel's 2 years. Also I am interested in studying Middle Eastern security issues and have heard Maxwell has a better alumni base. Can anyone enlighten me on the pros and cons of the schools from a more inside perspective? Many thanks in advance!
  5. Hey Everyone, Thanks for your input. It's really good to get different perspectives on this. I have more to add, I just got into MSFS and SAIS today. No word on funding. Someone said that SAIS has the best security program. Is that true? If so would that be worth paying even partial tuition for? I know I should wait until I hear about fin aid from the other schools, but the above schools are notoriously stingy with $. Any advice is again, greatly appreciated!
  6. Hi everyone, I'm having a dilemma after getting into Korbel 100% tuition scholarship for 2 years and then getting an acceptance at Fletcher with a 9k scholarship. I also got into Syracuse but haven't heard about fin aid. I'm interested in International Security with a focus on the Middle East and was wondering if anyone though it would be worth going into 60-70k debt for Fletcher with this interest in mind. Are the education, reputation and connections at Fletcher that much better? Would Syracuse be worth it? Any advice would be really helpful. Thanks!
