  1. Zee21, thanks for your post about NYU. I'm wondering if you feel that NYU can support a student who has policy interests? I'm interested in doing clinical work in the short-term, but I want to get into macro work in the future, and it would be great to be able to take some classes/get some skills while I'm in graduate school. Would love to hear your thoughts on that!
  2. I've finally narrowed my choices down to Columbia and Chicago and I'm having a really hard time deciding between the two. I've visited both and could definitely see myself at either school. Both programs are strong, although Columbia has the exact track I would want to do (AGPP). I could probably do something similar at Chicago, but it would be less structured. Chicago is definitely more academically rigorous. Columbia is in the location I want (I'm from New York and will probably stay in NY after grad school, so I might be able to make better connections by staying in NY). Chicago also offered me WAY more money, which is something to consider. Anyone else have thoughts on the schools? Anyone making the same decision? Any insight would be helpful!
  3. Does anyone know much about this? I know much more about this in the context of law school b/c I work at a law firm right now, but I'm wondering what our options will be as social workers. I know there's the PSLF program and the NHSC program, but can we bank on those? My top choice is going to be $30k+ more than another option I have and I'm trying to decide if it's worth it. Any insight would be much appreciated!
  4. i got 11k, which is 20k less than an offer from another school. this is so disappointing. columbia is hands down my top choice. is there anything we can do?
  5. Why are you leaning more towards nyu, chilly? I think I'm visiting on Saturday too.
  6. I know. This is starting to get really frustrating.
  7. Did anyone receive scholarship information?
  8. got in! i had a separate scholarship letter
  9. @MissyTee - I was thinking the same thing re: Penn and Columbia admitted students days.
  10. im also waiting. so does that mean we should hear today?
  11. Any thoughts on Columbia v. Penn v. NYU? I want to take enough clinical classes to qualify for an LCSW, but I also want to take courses in policy/program development b/c I'm interested in working across different system levels. I love Columbia's AGPP track b/c I feel like I'd definitely get that experience there. But I'm so worried about the price and I'm not sure if it's worth it esp. b/c some students seem frustrated with the lack of support at the school and the field placements in the first year. Penn is also strong in both areas though they don't have the specific track Columbia does. I was also offered a generous scholarship from NYU, but I'm not sure I'd get enough of the macro aspect of social work in my education from there. It's going to be such a tough choice!
