  1. Congrats!! I am also anxious about this funding! It's my top choice, and I want to make it work, but... it's pricey without funding. I got the email to set up the school account about one week ago. The email with the PDF letter attachment came today (and the College letter was dated same day I received the email to set up the school account). It might just take them some time to get their ducks/letters in a row. I don't mind sharing! The letters contained pretty standard info (e.g., my student ID #, how I'll need to perform to stay in the program if I choose to attend, etc.) and a form to complete if I want to attend by April 15th. The letter from the College said that I should be receiving an email from Dr. Steelman and the student-run mentor program soon... My guess is that that one would contain the information we're both waiting on! I'm also curious to see the mentor program in action, since I've heard really good things about it.
  2. I received an email containing PDF letters from the Office of Graduate Admissions and from the College... nothing from the I/O program specifically. I am super excited to be admitted to the MS program, but funding is a concern. I am hoping that this information will come from the I/O program in the next couple of days, and that the fact that it isn't mentioned in these two letters doesn't mean I didn't get any funding... Have you had any updates since posting this, Infinite544?
  3. I am applying to FIT... and I am also a little anxious about their paper submission process. It's the only school out of 8 that I am applying to that doesn't have another submission option for the items you mentioned. One of my letter writers sent their LOR back in the beginning of December, and FIT has had some trouble locating it (yayyy). Of course, the deadline is in 3 days, so I'll be calling the admissions office this afternoon, again.
  4. Hi, all! I've heard great things about the Florida Institute of Technology's I/O program. I am leaning towards applying to the master's program for fall 2016. I am really interested in applied work, so the fact that you can do hands-on work so early in the program through the Center for Organizational Effectiveness is a big plus. However, a concern of mine is that private tuition rate - ouch! Would anyone who's had contact with the Florida Institute of Technology like to chime in about the program? I am especially interested in hearing from current and former students, but I've also heard good things from people who came into contact with its students at a conference, for example. Just looking to round out my picture of the program a bit. Also, if you're comfortable talking about it, how generous has FIT been with financial aid/scholarships/TA's/etc.? Thanks!
  5. You both have given me (and other readers, I hope) a lot to think about! Thank you! I/O The Derry-O - It is reassuring to hear that your work experience helped you narrow down your interests. Also, I will make sure to look into job opportunities for master's-level positions focused more the organizational side of the field... just to make sure they are actually out there. The same goes for the master's programs themselves. Many of the ones I've looked into do seem to lean toward the 'I' side. Elanti - Thanks for the input about the internships at SJSU! I hadn't looked into that program at all (past the listing on SIOP's site), but I absolutely will now.
  6. Thanks for your response and the information about your program! I appreciate your suggestion to consider the program focus ('I' versus 'O') when narrowing down programs, and it sounds like you found a program that is a great fit for you. I definitely lean more towards the 'O' side, as you put it, especially organizational climate/change... However, since I haven't had any I-O education (aside from the Landy & Conte textbook I am reading on my own), I find myself wondering if my interests would shift with formal education or experience (like they did during undergrad). I wish I had some experience with I-O specifically (e.g., classes, internships, etc.) because I think it'd help me clarify my interests a bit, but I am having difficulty digging up those kinds of opportunities. Did anything in particular help you narrow down your I-O interests? I am not convinced HR is the route for me, although I am enjoying it; it was just the most accessible as far as gaining internship/practical experience in my area.
  7. Hi, all - I am trying to narrow down the list of terminal I/O master's programs I'd like to apply to for fall 2015. I am still in the early stages of researching these programs, but since this forum seems to be pretty active, I am hoping some of you lovely people can provide some insight. What programs have you come across that stuck with you for some reason? Or if there are any current students or grads out there, what did you think of your program or the programs you applied to/attended? A little about my interests: I know I am mainly interested in applied work after completing whatever program I pick. I am currently interning in an HR department for a large corporation, which has piqued my interest in programs like ASU's I/O and Human Resources Management (IOHRM) Master's Program... but at the same time, I don't want to rule out more traditional I/O programs just yet. Thank you!!
