It does! This is so exciting! Congratulations! I have a quick question though. Do they usually contact alternates by phone or by email when telling them the good news?
I got a vague email first just telling me to call the IIE office at my earliest convenience and they told me over the phone.

Just when I was starting to give up hope and apply to other programs, I got the call--my (A) has turned to (P)!!!!!!!!! South Korea here I come!
Hope this serves as some encouragement to all you other alternates out there!! Keep holding on!!- sirmixalot and normando13

But, here's a happy boost gif! (or an anxiously waiting for an email gif, you decide)

I just checked for my country and Korea decreased the ETA's by 10 (from 80 to 70). It's still a big program, but considering that it always has 250+ applicants it is a major decrease. Apparently there was also a decrease in research since the total for 2014 in statistics seems to be 35. While 35 is higher than previous years (around 20) that is also because Korea added an entirely new program this year with about 10 grants for graduate degrees in Korean studies. The sum of the new program and the traditional research grants for Korea next year will be 30. Looks like we are seeing the budget cuts in action. I feel so bad for next year's applicants.

Sooo...just throwing this out there because I know that there is a ridiculous wealth of knowledge on this forum: Does anyone know what the likelihood of moving from an Alternate to an Accepted in Korea has been in past years?
Also, CONGRATULATIONS to everyone accepted so far!! To those accepted for Korea ETA, I really really really hope to see you in Korea this year!
And of course my condolences to those not selected; but do not lose heart! If you really want to teach in Korea there are so many other opportunities! Good luck to you all!! -

Alright South Korea--let's make today the day!!
But seriously though. My school spams me with about 20 emails per day, and I'm not a math person, but I figure that's equated to about 90237912359872 mini heart attacks over the past few weeks. At least, it certainly feels that way. I don't know how much more waiting I can handle!!! I'm so glad to have this forum though, it keeps me sane. Well, sane-ish.... -
welp. I've tried to not crack under the pressure of waiting for final notifications but GAHHHH WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG?!?!!!?
I really think I'm losing it...
