  1. Hmm I'm surprised people who have been rejected or waitlisted at U of T haven't heard back yet. I'm guessing this week or definitly next week we will all have heard back from them.
  2. Ah its okay! I kinda expected it I have about 1000-1200 hours and after reading this forum and seeing how many hours people have it definitly made me realize I don't have enough!
  3. Got my rejection letter for Laurier. Kinda expected it though considering they are super competitive with experience! So it looks like Laurier decisions have all been sent out. I'm guessing no one has heard about being wait listed or rejected yet from u of t?
  4. Thank you!! So it seems as if a lot of people accepted into Laurier actually worked full-time in the field for a year or few years before applying to the MSW. Thanks for everyone sharing this helps! Congratulations again to everyone! We all deserve it!
  5. Oh agreed. I applied last year and got rejected than I heard about the accelerated BSW programs so I applied for that. Definitely don't want to move away either. I feel like my options on schools are soo limited because of this!
  6. Yeah for sure. Have you thought of doing an accelerated BSW program?
  7. Oh for sure! Better than a rejection at least you know you are on the right track. Yeah it really is competitive!
  8. THANKS everyone . I am going to attend the HBSW program at Lakehead so I'm hoping with the two placements we have to do it'll give me more experience as well as I will continue to volunteer at the two places I am volunteering at now!
  9. Definitly have an amazing application than! What places have you worked if you don't mind me asking
  10. WOW really?:S that is so discouraging.
  11. Everyone who got into Laurier can I ask a question?? Roughly how many hours of experience in the social services field do you have?? I heard Laurier puts a lot of emphasis on that. I only have about 1000-1200 hours of experience and they say the competitive range is about 3500. I just wanted to know roughly what people have who did get accepted and if it is closer to 3500?? Thanks in advance:)
  12. So the waitlisting begins!! Thats good. I hope it works out and you get in.
  13. Agreed. I have thought about this as well especially because after a few weeks of starting the program you don't get a refund of your tuition! Which would suck.
  14. I think we should create a group that'd be good! My brother lives in Innisfill so I will be moving in with him for a bit. Thankfully, I hear the campus isn't too expensive for living accomodations though hopefully that was true!
  15. Thank you!! I feel like I keep going back and forth with hope! I do hope I at least get waitlisted. I got rejected last year and it was not a nice feeling, but definitely did better with grades and experience this year and spent a lot more time on my statements so I think this year if I'm rejected its going to be much more of a bummer! It's so nice to see how supportive everyone is. Congrats on your offer btw!
  16. Ahhh so more people are getting accepted to Laurier today?? I will be obsessively checking my email and ROSI now today lol . Although I'm starting to lose hope.
  17. Thank you! I did get accepted to the HBSW Lakehead program so I am hoping I can do amazing in that program and get into the MSW Advanced Standing. It so nice to have this forum with people who understand!!!
  18. Hey everyone. These are my qualifications. What are your opinions on what I need to improve on?? I have a high b+ A- avg depending on if they go back 8 or 10 courses. I have volunteered two years at youth assisting youth as a mentor. One year as a research assistant. 8 months as a transcribed at an anxiety research lab. Two months as a data inputted at kids help phone. 6 months as a peer support at Hope 24/7. Just started for three months now at distress Centre as a distress line volunteer. And children's aid society as a tutor for 8 months so far. I have As in all my research courses as well as my thesis paper. I'm not sure what else to improve on to increase my chances . I'm thinking I could have chosen better references maybe
  19. Ahh I really thought this was the year for Msw for me! I have good grades a lot of experience. Maybe my statement wasn't good :
  20. Ahhh this is so stressful knowing the wait is almost over! I just want to know at this point so I can start planning for next year!
