I believe you did not quite understand what I said. I have only said that it is not fair to blame Yale, since most schools still have rejections/acceptances to make.

UPenn, Berkeley, UCLA, Yale... all of these have rejections/acceptances to make, and did not tell anything to anyone about when they are going to give an answer to the applications, but people insist on blaming only Yale... that's sad.

For those who have already been accepted or rejected by email: who sends the rejection or acceptance letters? The department or the graduate school? Some schools say that the graduate school sends the emails with rejections or acceptances, but they also say it takes time after the department gives a decision to send you the acceptance/rejection.

Actually I have no special reason not to apply to Stanford. I just think that the research interests of the professors of these other places are more compatible with what I want to work with in my PhD. Vijay Pande, for example, develops theoretical methods to study biological systems, and Hans Andersen is more in to statistical mechanics of liquids, which are fantastic subjects, though not the first ones on my list. Prof. Martin Head-Gordon would probably be my first choice to work with at Berkeley. Although, I might also be interested in working with Professors William Lester and William Miller.
