I received the financial info a week after the first, unofficial acceptance. For those waiting for Umass Amherst Social Pych. info- I got an update of the application via website, with no other notification. Peace&Violoence subgroup - denied.

My status with Umass just changed to 'denied'- I randomly checked the website, there was no notification.

Not a peep.

Agreed. They must have known about this problem earlier. The peace & violence program, which I applied to as well, appears to be just a subdepartment of social psych. department - I was rechecking this after seeing the news from Anita. One prof I contacted there also mentioned budget constraints (mind you, this was a week before the deadline), but not how serious the issue was for the department of social psychology. She said she wouldn't be taking any students, but nothing about the complete lack of funds for anybody.

Ouch! I applied to their social program too.

I'm interested in working within peace and violence group, a couple of profs, but not Dr. Pietromonaco. Yes, it does appear that social psych. results come a bit later, especially compared to clinical psychology. Since the deadlines for clinical and other subfields are about one month apart, this is probably what we can expect with news too.

I haven't responded to the question, sorry about the delay. I applied to Umass Amherst, Clark, Northeastern. Haven't heard anything yet.
