  6. I just acquired a new laptop for grad school which will be my primary computing device. What do you recommend as a durable and protective laptop backpack? Anyone purchase anything recent within the last year or so? Thanks for your suggestions
  7. Great suggestions! Here's a few more: Do's Use DropBox and/or Google Drive. Create a folder for each class and upload your documents. They are then accessible from anywhere including your phone. Don'ts Don't read everything in the textbook, read the key things. Don't be afraid to speak up in class, if you know the answer, raise your hand, you're likely to get called when you don't know the answer if you're not vocal earlier in class
  8. As we embark on our graduate studies, I thought I would ask some of my friends who just completed their masters degree in SLP for their nuggets of wisdom. What would you add to the list? Here's what they said: Do's Use a planner Use a to-do list Stay on top of work Exercise Make time for yourself Eat healthy Manage your time wisely Ask for help when needed Ask for feedback Review graded assignments Make time for the things you love Don’t stress out Don’t procrastinate Dedicate at least one day a week for you time Focus on the learning process and not so much the grade Keep a binder and use it to keep all paperwork for ASHA in it (Original forms of your observation hours, all clinic hours, background checks etc.)
  9. JNP92, There are certain grad programs that do not require a GRE. I saw a list some time ago on this forum. What is your undergraduate in? What experience do you have working with adults/children with disabilities?
  10. Great thread Can someone please post the links to the blogs mentioned? thanks.

  12. Yes, more experience and volunteer work. I believe that what really helps is working with populations with special needs.
  13. I have worked as an SLPA in a school district. Pay ranges from $15-25. No benefits, no union, no retirement, no guarantee of hours, no fica

  16. I was offered an admission spot this morning. I had already accepted at LLU. I'm in the valley of decision. Help!
  17. Just discovered this forum. I applied to several schools in the western part of the USA. I was offered admission at several universities. I was drawn to the grad program at LLU as it appears to be small and closeknit. I accepted LLU's offer of admission. Just a few minutes ago, I received an email from Univ of Redlands offering me a spot and I must respond within 24 hours. Not sure what to do...
