  1. Wow - jealous! Are you going to Canada?
  2. For those who are still hanging around, I am wondering can we start a new topic - how long did it take you to get medical clearance? Someone a few pages back posted that he/she heard back in three days, while I am now at ten days and counting. Any other data points?
  3. My guess is that they are concerned about whether treatment would be available if needed. I have type I diabetes - diagnosed at age 7 - that is very well-controlled and has been for years. The medications that I take are available in Taiwan, and if my condition worsened the medical system there is quite advanced and could certainly provide treatment. So that was what I (and my doctor) wrote. I really didn't say anything about ability to complete the work because my impression is that the concern of the person deciding about medical clearance is whether it is medically safe for the person to be where the State Department proposes to send her.
  4. Not to get too personal, but was your medical history pretty "clean" (for lack of a better word)? It will be a week ago on Monday that I submitted my form, and I had to explain a few things, and the pdf wouldn't let me type in the space provided so I had to attach a page, so I am not looking for a quick reply. But if my twin brother submitted a form, it would be "No" to every single question, so I imagine his form would get approved a bit more quickly.
  5. Yilan! Are you a second-year ETA? I thought I read somewhere that the Taipei placements were were for people with ETA experience . . . Also, I'm wondering if any Taiwan people have received confirmation that their submitted grant authorizations made it to the right people. I'm pretty sure that the last communication I got was the placement email - anyone else get anything more recently?
  6. Hi miri - I think probably everyone here knows that feeling of paralysis. For me, it started in March after spring break when people first started hearing back. The only way I could get past it was to come up with a Plan B, so I could tell myself, "If I don't get the Fulbright, then I will do X instead." Otherwise, it is just looking into an abyss . . .
  7. Can I ask another medical form question? Is anyone else having trouble with the form not providing enough space to type? I can't fit my whole address, and the medical history section will let me type a whole lot but only displays (and only prints) one line . . . and forget entering three dates for polio vaccinations . . . I do have sort of an old computer -- should I try a different computer, or are other people having the same issues?
  8. Long-time lurker, finally posting to say, first, that I got an ETA to Taiwan! I am super excited but feeling a little paranoid tonight about having gotten several communications last week but nothing since. I know it is the weekend but I just realized that I never got a confirmation about submitting the placement survey; also, I emailed Kelly a reply to her email (as she requested), and then I sent my passport to Charlie, but I have not heard anything else from either of them . . . just slightly worried that all of my responses are lost somewhere n cyber space. SO I know there are some other Taiwan people here - can you let me know, have you gotten additional emails? And did you get a confirmation that your placement survey was received? Thanks!
