Hey I was browsing around... I found these timetables and they're now showing fall 2015/winter 2016.

A question for those who are currently working on gaining work experience:
What types of employment opportunities would be suitable for anyone without a BSW or extensive work experience? I'm starting to lose hope as most agencies require a ton of experience in specific positions such as child welfare or addicitons worker. Would volunteering be my best bet?
I have started searching for volunteer work instead of paid work, but I'm wondering if top schools prefer paid work experience and downgrade volunteer hours!
Hey! I spent the past couple years trying to gain more volunteering an work experience. Apart for some random volunteer opportunities, I mostly had my college placement with Canadian Pardon Services to rely on for experience. I'm also aiming at specialization in Mental Health and I sought volunteering with Canadian Mental Health Association, working with various individuals one-on-one in the community. I also was very fortunate to be hired with Community Living as a support worker. I also started volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters. I applied last year, and while I had started some volunteering and work, it wasn't quite enough hours and experience. Volunteering is a great opportunity and looks great on your resume.

Has anyone accepted into the U of T 2 year program started looking for housing yet? I'm tempted to apply for residence... but I would like to stay in TO over the summers and work (hopefully). Also was thinking, it would be cheaper to live in a house with several folks. Anyone have any advice on looking around? I'll admit I haven't explored some of the websites yet for student housing, but it's a little overwhelming
-
So to get our U of T student cards, we will actually have to go to campus to do it - before we can set up our email?

Hi everyone! I am currently in the 2-year MSW at UofT. I was decently active on this forum last year (and checked it obsessively) so I thought I'd stop by to see if anyone had any questions in their decision-making, etc.
Hey welcome. I was wondering what the classes are like? How many people are in classes? What are the professors and course work like? I'm so excited to be attending in September. I still need to get my student card and living sorted.

I got my acceptance package today - albeit soaked from the rain! Woohoo. Going to send off my letter and deposit now haha. They have mentioned sites for new students for tuition and the program - I can't actually find anything for 2015; has this not been updated yet? (Maybe it's still too soon). Anyone else receive theirs?
-
I still haven't received my package in the mail (I was accepted last week to uoft) anyone else not get it? Starting to panic it was mailed to my old address
I'm still waiting for mine too! I'm half scared it won't make it to me - Youdont' know how awful my luck is with canada post. but I will let you know. hopefully today we'll get them
-
Hey I know this has probably been posted in the past, but for those of us who are now "invited" on ROSI, how long does it take to receive something in the mail?
-
Thank you!! I feel like I keep going back and forth with hope! I do hope I at least get waitlisted. I got rejected last year and it was not a nice feeling, but definitely did better with grades and experience this year and spent a lot more time on my statements so I think this year if I'm rejected its going to be much more of a bummer! It's so nice to see how supportive everyone is. Congrats on your offer btw!
Good luck ! I hope you hear good news! I know what it feels like to get rejected/waitlisted and not get off. It happened last year to me. It sounds like you've worked hard. FINGERS CROSSED

Yay congrta
Congratulations to everyone who found out from Laurier, U of T and St Thomas today, that is such wonderful news! I'm just curious, to people who are getting into the 2 year programs: is this your first time applying or have you applied before? Just wanna get an idea of how common reapplication is !
Hey this was my second time applying. I was wait listed at u of t last year and never made it off. It's pretty competitive program so it's not uncommon to reapply. But hang in there if you haven't heard anything yet! There's still time !

I got into uoft I can't breath I literally started crying and hyperventilating at work omg!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! lol me too!!!!

Hi Everyone! I have been creeping this forum for a while and now want to give some hope to waitlist people! I applied to York U 1 year Advance Standing MSW program. On March 10th I was sent an e-mail telling me I was waitlisted and about two hours ago I received my acceptance and I am off the waitlist!!!
Congratulations!! That is amazing

Interesting that she emailed you back about it! When'd you send it in? I sent in an updated official transcript and it would have gotten there on the 19th ish (I checked, they definitely had received / signed for it) but Angela hasn't let me know officially that she's gotten it. Don't want to bug her, haha. So how long abouts did that email take to get to you after you sent in the transcript?
Hey. Yeah I happened to ask if they were still accepting revised resumes and other items. I sent it in via email March 26 so she got back to me pretty quickly. If you're concerned about the transcript I would email and ask. If you mailed it, it should most likely be there by now. For me anyway, she's always responded to let me know when she received something - but that was by email .
-
Should I be sending in an updated resume? It seems like everyone in this forum has. I have a further 3.5 months of full time hours to add (so about 560) but it's at the same job.
Yeah I definitely would since they're accepting them. Those extra hours look great and sending in another one is a good way to show your hard work and drive to getting into the program

Hey everyone,
Angela just emailed me back this morning about another revised resume I sent in. she said it'd be attached . so don't give up hope yet!

Happy Monday everyone - I hope it's an especially happy monday and we start to hear good news back!
Definitely am developing a bad habit checking ROSI and MyuWindsor Lol even on weekends when I really don't expect updates. It's getting as bad as checking facebook.
Good luck everyone!

Ahh I'm scared. U of Windsor "applications" part is temporarily unavailable. I wonder if they're updating... anyone else have this?
Edit: Nevermind. False alarm.

My myfile says reviewed-unsuccessful wasn't really holding my breath for York though its so hard to get in. Congrats to those who got wait list or accepted
Booo Mine too! So sorry to hear
I wasn't expecting to get in - tough competition and they didn't accept me last year. Congrats to everyone who's gotten in or waitlisted !!
Hoping to hear good news from Windsor and U of T (who waitlisted me last year - maybe good sign?).

Also, tomorrow is Friday! I know we are all kind of leaning towards the idea of more offers going out tomorrow so I just want to throw out a huge good luck to everyone, I find the vibe in this forum to be very uplifting and it would be a complete joy to attend a grad program with everyone here! Best of luck tomorrow!
YES finally. I hope there's a lot of good news to go around tomorrow (should this be when they send out more acceptances)!! Good luck everyone and hang in there

So I 've heard nothing from U of T, York or Windsor.... *nervous.
Congrats to everyone who was recently accepted!! That's great
Sorry to hear Social Worker 93 - I hope you hear good news from other schools AND/or get off the waitlist

Encouraged by a friend, I emailed Angela(U of T) yesterday to update my resume, she replied me today and said my new information will be added to my application. Do you guys think it means that they are still reviewing our applications? Otherwise she simply would have told me that the decisions were already made. What do you think?
It sounds like it to me Considering what she said not too long ago about them not having reviewed applications yet, I think - and I hope im not just being too hopeful here - that they've still got quite a few to review. I'd be surprised if they've reviewed all the applications they've received in such a short period of time and made decisions. lol or at least I really hope not. To me, that's sounds like they haven't reviewed yours yet.
