Hey decaf, thanks for the updates on your end. It's always good to hear others experiences. Since last posting I've been accepted at SFSU, CSUN, and Cal State East Bay. I was also denied at Long Beach and was also not too bothered by that. What made you decide on the MSW ultimately? Congratulations!!

Hey all -- Figured it would be good to get a masters specific discussion going for those of us on that route. I'm in California and doing an MFT (hopefully). Trying to go for low cost programs that still have a good reputation. Here are my schools, arranged by preference: 

1. SFSU
2. CSU Long Beach
3. CSU Northridge (have an interview)
4. CSU East Bay

Where else are people applying? Have you heard back from any schools?

You may have already heard of or read this book, but Getting What You Came For by Robert Peters PhD is the BEST possible source of info on how to stay motivated in grad school, get the work done, and get out in less time than the average student. It's amazing!

[LGBTQ Researchers in Psychology]

If you're interested in publications (actively publishing researchers) focused on LGBTQ issues in particular, it would be simpler and faster to do a lit search from which you can obviously get the authors's names.

 

Definitely can be a good source, but as others have posted, it's not always the most direct way to finding potential advisers. I've always found word of mouth to be the most accurate info gathering method with adviser interests. That's why we're all on here right?

Hey folks! I've been compiling an initial long list for Clinical Psych PhD and/or Counseling PsyD programs I may apply to for Fall 2015. The main filter I'm using right now is based on finding an adviser doing research focused on LGBTQ populations. I've been surprised by how difficult it is to find these researchers and was hoping to start a thread that highlights these people's work in one place. After several weeks of research, here's who I've found so far:

Note that I'm listed faculty who actually publish research on LGBTQ issues. Many researchers list this as an interest, but do not actually publish work on this topic.
