Who else is scared?! I get these panic attacks because I am moving 5 hours away not knowing anyone...Help!! any advice from those who have done this before?

I have not lived by myself before. My first year of undergrad I got paired with a random roommate, we were total opposites and she was awful to me. So I requested to be switched to another dorm room. I got three new roommate and got bullied. the next year I found 2 girls to live with one of them in my classes and we got along but there was always those petty things like dishes or cleaning and then they held little grudges. After that year I moved home and commuted to campus because I was just done, and wanted to save money. I have been living at home since. But now that I am moving 5 hours away I am just thinking I might be better off living alone. I have heard that you spend most of your time at school anyways. I did when I was in undergrad (especially when I had clinic). Most of the time after school I would get home late and just go to my room because I was stressed an exhausted. So it might be really nice to live alone, have quiet time and not have to worry about if my room mate thinks I am a slob because I haven't got to the dishes yet. But yet, I am moving to West Virginia and the city the school is in is pretty run down. I will be living in a part of the town that is safer and nicer about ten minutes away, but the fact of driving and entering my apartment alone and being alone that far away from home tends to scare me. I plan on only doing this for the first year. I am hoping to meet someone in the department that I get along with well and get a two bedroom apartment to save some money on rent.

I am moving about 5 hours away for grad school, anyone have prior experience living on their own in a strange town? is it a good idea? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

My group interview wasn't too bad. They had a list of random questions and they asked each of us a different question. Then they had us choose one that we wanted to answer (that someone else answered before) for the next round. The last question was a group based clinical question. That was it, just make sure you relax and pretend like you are chatting with some friends!

Thank you!! No I graduated in December from a school in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I went to the open house at Marshall and I LOVED it! I am not sure how many they put on the wait list, but when I was there they reassured everyone that the wait list is not a bad thing and that you definitely have a chance of getting accepted into the program. All I know is that they did a tiered system this year meaning that they sent out multiple rounds of acceptances, and then I believe they just sent out the rejections and wait lists. Good luck!!

Hey everyone, I have a interview on Sunday Feb 8th with Central Michigan. It is a group interview and I have no idea what to expect. Can anyone give me advice on internet and/or group interviews??

HEY GUYS, I AM LOOKING INTO MICHIGAN SCHOOLS. I HAVE 3.56 GPA AND MY GRE SCORES STINK! I AM RETAKING IT SEPT 5TH BUT IT IS A CONSTANT WORRY THAT I WONT BEABLE TO GET 150 IN BOTH VERBAL AND MATH. ESPECIALLY MATH! MY RECOMMENDATIONS WILL BE EXCELLENT AND I WILL HAVE HAD EXPERIENCE WITH 4 CLIENTS (TWO SEMESTERS OF CLINICAL) I VOLUNTEER FOR SPEECH CAMPS FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS AND I AM INVOLVED IN OUR SPEECH PATHOLOGY AND ASL CLUBS AT MY UNDERGRAD UNIVERSITY. I JUST NEED TO FIND SCHOOLS THAT LOOK AT THE WHOLE PICTURE. THANKS!!

how do you find schools that don't just look at numbers?!

Does anyone here know anything about Indiana State's program???
