  1. thnx Little Jay! that is perfect, I will email you directly with some questions , I really appreciate your response
  2. Thnx for your reply snagsby, First hand experience like yours is really helpful, since I cant really go to see the program. I will definetly consider all my options seriously. Actually in the the types of organizations I want to work, french is listed as one of the required languages but not italian, so I think if your into the international scene, french is a really strong language to have. I hope it works out for you. Good luck with your decisions Best
  3. Thnx for the replies. Yeah I've decided that Italy will be a good option for a two year masters followed by a PhD from a good US college. I checked the courses, pretty much standard civil courses. I figured its an old discipline thats pretty much the same every where at the masters level (Structural mechanics and all). Once I think of a dissertation theme or some research I'm interested in then well funded larger programs will matter more for PhD. But thanx again for the comments, got me thinking. best
  4. Haha rennaisance.. i like that! My gut says italy as well... thnx for your opinion
  5. Really confused right now. I applied for a masters in CEE and got into UIUC rank1/(2 in some rankings) Cornell Politecnico di Milano Didnt get funding at UIUC or Cornell so thats alot of money which my dad wants to help out with but its going to be alot of stress and I really want to do this on my own. Italy will be free and a really awsome experience. The programs in english, a two years masters after which I'll apply for a PhD in the states again or just finish up their. I'll know italian too . My dad wants to help out because he thinks going to a recognized place like that will have a really really big impact on my career, which im sure it will, but I've pretty much decided I want to work at ADB or the World Bank and similar organizations, where the international aspect might be welcomed. Also at cornell the MENG is a one year course which i think is really short. I'll appreciate any feedback, GL with ure respective apps
  6. I got into four schools and none of them asked me to reply by april 15th. Do schools normally ask people to reply by the 15th. Texas A&m said the offer was valid till september Cornell May 1st UCLA, UIUC didnt give a deadline Im on a waitlist too, so just wondering if theres no deadline to reply then how will spots open up on the 15th? goodluck
  7. Hi, I applied for an MS, still havent heard anything from them either, eventhough they said by end of March. Probably next week. Good luck
  8. Thanks Blah and falmouth. I appreciate your responses. I wrote to stanford yesterday and they said they were still making decisions. I applied for the DCI program at stanford, structural at the rest. I got in at Cornell, Texas A&M, UIUC, UCLA but my top choices are Berkeley and stanford. Good luck with your admissions Best
  9. Haven't seen a separate section for Civil anywhere yet plus very few responses in the result list. It's pretty late in the month and i cant stand the wait no longer. Is it that there are very few CEE applicants who use this site or are the universities just delaying. Im waiting on UCB, stanford, columbia, georgia tech Any results would be appreciated, thnx
  10. March is almost over! I got a letter from cornell dated January 22nd in march. I hate decisions by post. International postal services suck, and schools should realize that. This is frustrating. Anyone still waiting on Stanford, Berkeley CEE? Accepted: Cornell, Texas A &M, UIUC, UCLA (No Funding) Rejected: Princeton, Texas Austin Waiting for: Georgia Tech, Stanford, berkeley, UCSD
