  1. Yeah, Zach and Berkeley EEGSA are awesome!!! I still couldn't figure out who is quadsbaby though...Did we bump into each other? Which area are you in? ( IC/Design of El. Sys./..??)
  2. please help me decide...any thoughts will be appreciated...
  3. Does anybody know if Harvard Bioengineering ( in SEAS, not the HST program) is a strong program? I am deciding between that and Berkeley EECS. I am interested in applying EE to biomedical problems. Berkeley seems like a nicer place to live but the stipend for TA first year is so low $16000 vs Harvard's $22000 ( all for nine months). is it easy to transfer from SEAS Bioengineering to HST (harvard-mit health science technology)? I applied there but got rejected and admitted to harvard seas instead.

  5. and yes, the prof contacted me with the admit although it might not be the same for everyone
  6. Harvard had their visit day yesterday. There are about 5-7 of us I think. You might be on a waitlist. Lots of those admitted to Harvard also got acceptance from MIT/Berkeley/Stanford so they might decline the offers. Good luck!
  7. I doubt that this is true at the MS/PhD level. The Stanford MSEE degree is over exploited commercially . Anyway, Berkeley has the MOT ( Management of Technology) program for PhD students. Many startups also had their beginnings at Berkeley. Stanford appeared to be a better place for entrepreneurs probably because of the fame of Google. Also at Berkeley you can take as many classes as you want whereas at Stanford if you take more than 10 credits ( as provided by your fellowship/TA/RA) you have to pay extra. Berkeley campus is considered by many to be more beautiful and it is very close to San Fransisco. And all the things you heard about the Quals at Stanford, the competitiveness this results and how they admit more students than they can afford til PhD and plan to cut 50% of them are all true.
  8. I've already booked my flight to arrive in the evening of the 12th ( visiting UC Berkeley!) so I can't attend Stanford Visit Day anyway...also they don't bother to invite...Berkeley seems to care about its students more....Seems like Quadsbaby will be attending MIT?
  9. So it is very likely that most of those admitted during 25-27 Feb will not receive any aid then...Mojojo, did you also receive a departmental fellowship? (since they also nominate you for the SGF i guess you must be one of their top students)....Have they invited you to the Visit Day? I wonder why they admit us to Ms/PhD without intending to provide any aid ( for those at the bottom of the admit list that is). Should they just reject us and admit us to the MS-Only and make money out of that?
  10. I mean for those admitted to the Ms/PhD track
  11. do you guys know anything about financial assistance from Stanford for those admitted in the 25-27 Feb period. Are they really working on that or are they just waiting for those admitted during 15-19 Feb to decline their fellowships and give those to us. Will most of those admitted during 25-27 Feb receive some sort of financial assistance or only some will? I am getting increasingly anxious....
  12. lol..we are second-class admits lol...anyway do you guys know anything about financial assistance from Stanford for those admitted in the 25-27 Feb period. Will most of those admitted during 25-27 Feb receive some sort of financial assistance or only some will....I can't imagine that they admit us to Ms/PhD without giving financial aid and don't invite us to Visit Day also...how disappointed...
  13. thanks! I wonder why don't they mention that in the admit email they sent me today..do you have a url where i can obtain for info? maybe I am not invited
  14. Does anyone know if Stanford EE has official newly admitted grad student visit day?
