  1. hey there! I happened to see one of your posts on the forum and wanted to ask if you received an offer from the phd program at UCDavis when you applied? I am planning to apply there for the coming fall. I am debated between MS or Phd...might apply for phd. I do not have a undergrad major in stats but my masters is in Quant field. I'm just trying to guage if it's a long shot.

  2. word to the wise, many state programs are cutting back their admits if you havent noticed. there was a huge increase in the shear number of applicant for a decreasing number of spots. im a current PhD at one of the UC's and our dept is taking about half as many as last year( I think they took 11-12 last year, this year is 7 but maybe fewer). They are also taking fewer internationals; they just dont have the money to pay for them, let alone money for much else. just be prepared for that heavy-tail chance of not getting in...
  3. If you look into the costs of Weyburn, it is definitely not worth it !!! They kick you out during the summer anyways, so you're missing about 2 months. It is about 11-12k to live in Weyburn for like 9-10 months. I am just going to find a place with another person I know who is going into the same program. If you plan on being there for longer than a year, I would be looking elsewhere.
  4. Just curious who else out there is applying to graduate school for Statistics ? I've been accepted to the PhD program at the University of Illinois at U-C with full funding and have an admit to the PhD. program at UC-Santa Barbara with no current funding ( not happy about that  ). Still waiting to hear back from the Statistics PhD. programs at UC-Davis and Northwestern and the MS at UCLA. Anyone accepted to any of those places? Plan on attending ? Hope everyone else's apps are going well.
