  1. Hi all, I have a special situation here. I'm a Canadian citizen who has resided in the US for more than 10 years. I have not gotten a greencard, and have wandered from TD, H4, TN, to now H1-B status. I will be quitting my job relatively soon, and will need a F-1 visa to begin school again in the US. When I go through customs, will I have any issues? I know they don't like to grant visas to people who have expressed intent to stay in the US. After 10+ years, I really have no physical ties to Canada anymore - no property, no bank accounts, nothing... Is there a chance they'll reject my F1 application? Thanks in advance for your input!
  2. Has anyone heard from Penn? I contacted their dept to ask about the status of my application. It's been a week - and no response.
  3. I sent an inquiry to some of my schools and surprisingly, I have not heard back from most of them. I was expecting at least a "we're still in the process of deciding" generic email, but instead have been completely ignored. This is strange to me, especially considering I've heard successes of getting a reply from other people who are emailing the same exact people I'm emailing. What could be the problem? Call me sensitive, but I find the lack of response downright rude and unprofessional.
  4. I know someone who got admitted to Duke. It appears there are plenty of schools that effectively put us on waitinglists without telling us so. I think it's absolutely immoral...
  5. Did you apply to PhD or Masters? I applied to PhD. From what I know, there's no interview. I did get invited to CMU's stat department open house in late February -- sounds like they invited all of their admitted students.
  6. I heard from Carnegie Mellon for Statistics more than a week ago, but am still waiting on UPenn, Columbia, Harvard, Duke, UNC Chapel Hill, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, Yale, and Cornell. Just wondering if anybody else has heard back from any of these schools? Thanks!
