I really wish I had known this before. It was very difficult getting that first rejection - I just didn't know what to think. Everyone has such great and diverse experience and so many people deserve to be accepted. I hope all of you waiting get off the waitlists and do no get discouraged if you get a rejection. Don't give up -

Hey Mtlgal, I contacted admissions. I am not sure who answered my email but they told me they cannot look at each person's application, they just gave me general feedback, like I said, but it was detailed on what their selection process consisted of. But it was definitely not personalized, it was very general. -

Hi nins, I would recommend that you maybe try to get feedback on your applications. When I didn't get into Mcgill they gave me some general feedback on what they are looking for. I thought I met most of the criteria, but, for example, they told me that they looked more at cumulative rather than subGPA. They also told me that the problem is always the number of spots vs. the number of very qualified applicants. They had at least 300 qualified individuals and many excellent students do not make it, but you do seem to be at the top of the waiting list so I would not worry too much. -

Congrats to everyone and best of luck! I was also accepted to both U of T (my first choice) and Western. I'm a first-time applicant. Looking forward to meeting some of you there! (Yay!) -

Does anyone know whether last year Western and U of T sent acceptances, wait lists, and rejections at the same time, or over a few days like these other schools? I also was wondering whether they send them at midnight or the morning of April 1st? I have a deadline to accept an offer for another masters program that same day :-x -

. I think anytime you're on a wait list your chances are very good. I'm sure a lot of people applied also because it's a really good program with a solid reputation, not just as backup. Is it the first time they have 56 spots? I personally did not apply because it's too far from me but I wish I couldve. -

I can imagine how you feel. They really should open up more spots. I mean, when you have nearly 400 applicants and people on wait lists to receive therapy... I don't get it. -

That's good! Hope you get in! At least some better news than our McGill rejections! -

I think it definitely is about having the whole package always, not about having the highest grades. Other aspects of someone's application I am sure can add more value than a few extra points on their GPA. Stay positive (: -

Hi 2015hopeful, I spoke to someone there. I think they said they received 380 or so? But only had 28 spots this year. It was not in the letter. -

I posted my stats because I think a lot of people with decent stats also got rejected. Maybe they can relate. Sometimes it simply does not work out. Also, sometimes what stands out are not grades but other things which maybe my application lacked. I applied to another research masters and was offered an amazing funding package that is making this process slightly less painful. I suggest to try to have a back up plan even if it's not what you want. You never know. -

Congratulations everyone who got accepted to McGill! I also did not make it into McGill. I am not super surprised but of course disappointed. I hope to have better luck at the Ontario schools. My GPA is 3.73 and subGPA is 3.95 according to ORPAS. I also have about 300 volunteer hours with two different populations and conference presentations/research experience. I guess McGill is looking for something specific. They said they had to turn down a lot of great applicants because they received approximately 400 applications this year and could only admit 28 students. -

I think they list them separately when they calculate your average to show how you did each semester, but when I calculated my average before ORPAS did, I gave the same value to every course (fall and summer) and had the same result as they came up with. Not sure if that helps. -

Are we able to check our status for U of T with that information in the housing email? -

My thoughts exactly, lol. Very exciting for all who were accepted! It must feel like a huge relief. How big is the U of A class? -

OTs have very good job prospects and in many cases equal or higher salaries than SLPs. The program is also more competitive from what I have heard. Not sure how accurate that is but they do have a lot more applicants. -

I think I remember reading that they take students from anywhere, including international students. So I don't think they focus on province. It is harder to get in because it is a smaller class but all schools look for different things. I know someone who was wait-listed at U of T but accepted at McGill (without wait list) a few years ago. Your stats sound very similar to mine. I am also extremely anxious! -

I don't know specifically about Western but I think U of T says the same. I've always wondered about this because they say they don't only look at grades but also at "quality of academic background" in their booklet (at least for U of T). A lot of honours applicants would have taken advanced courses and done research or theses. Maybe that's not what they mean but they do separate quality of academic work and academic performance as two different components in their booklet. So I'm not sure whether a BA or a BA Hons. would make a difference... But I have wondered about that. It's kind of confusing. -

I wonder if they accept really competitive applicants earlier? I also read that the earliest is April 1st this year but I think last year was the same.
