Hi Spoonman, I'm recalling all my programs just wanted an overall score of 80-90. Since this means average scores of 20-23 on each section, I don't think 18 would be a red flag. Just my guess. The schools know if you are living in the US (assume these are US programs since you mention the TOEFL) your English will only improve. And your other scores are very high.

¡Felicidades!
Way to go!
No news from me

¡Felicidades a Macabea y SDB!
Too bad scarvesandcardigans, I've got some denials too, if that makes you feel any better.
I went to a prospective students event and it was pretty impressive and exciting.

Congratulations on the admit and the acceptance!

email to check website.

Same thing happened to me with UT Austin. But I got into my tippy top choice, so hey!
-
Thanks to everyone and, also, congratulations to all the admits. There's been some really impressive ones on this thread! It ain't over till it's over

First of all, ¡Felicidades! I agree with BBear. In my opinion you should visit all the schools, unless there are definite reasons to rule any out. You might discover many factors you didn't realize existed. Then you can make an informed decision.

MIT!!! That's fantastic!!! You better not go to bed, more like go paint the town red!

Mi estatus de Austin sigue sin cambiar...
Debes considerarlo positivo.

Wow, UCLA and Oklahoma. Those are both hard programs to get into. Felicidades.
-
Well, that is just wonderful!!!
-
¡Felicidades! ¡Enhorabuena!
If I may ask, how did UCLA notify?

No interview and no contact.
Hugs BeatrizBear! Because we won't be in a cohort together.
-
BeatrizBear, don't be sad! Chill!! When I saw your post I raced over to the UT Austin web portal to find my denial also. We have a ways to go before calling failure! Be patient!

BeatrizBear,
Bummer! I was hoping that was yours to claim.

BeatrizBear, ¡Ánimo! No te han dicho nada. ten paciencia. Veremos.

I'm not sure I can top the esoteric and positive nature of the previous post. When I thanked my mentor for writing me an LOR she admonished me to not celebrate until an acceptance is had. Previously, I had made a video of an indigenous interviewee speaking about their language, which I showed my mentor. There was a bottle of wine in the background, but well on-camera. After viewing the video, she commented "I see a bottle of wine in the background. Wow, great, let's drink the wine. Bring the wine right over and we'll drink it." So I know what to get her.

CONGRATULATIONS to all who got interviews!

Don't worry BeatrizBear, certifications aren't as important as my missing literature classes!

FingersCrossed12, Bom dia! There, I've now exhausted my Portuguese vocabulary. I'm so used to waiting that it doesn't seem so bad. I'm a little amazed that it only takes a couple of months to hear back on an application. But it is a little anxiety producing.
Hi Natiyrm, Yes you are probably right about other students, you are unique. Have you already taken the DELE? I think it might be a little late to take it for the Fall 2015 cycle. I took it right after it was updated to the EU common model a couple of years ago and managed to pass at level C2. It did, however, take the Cervantes Institute 3 months to grade the thing! In my SOP I do mention that I have it. It's not a major part of my SOP, in my opinion. Doesn't UAB require B2 as a minimum of all students in order to attend?
