  1. Got into concentrated ethics with the same $14,500. Very exciting!
  2. Haven't heard anything. Anxious because I know I'd have a better chance with comprehensive, I think. I did ethics...what about you?
  3. Did not hear for Duke Divinity yesterday. Got a call from BU MTS, got in. My file is going in front of a scholarship committee over the next couple weeks, they told me. So that's promising.
  4. All - Hoping to share thoughts/info on Masters level programs responses. I've applied to Yale, (1/15 - MARc, Ethics) BU, (2/1, MTS) and Duke (1/31, MTS). Duke e-mailed me a couple weeks ago and said they'd wave my application fee. Not too sure what that's all about. Interested to see how things shake out here. Yale says a decision would be posted on 3/14 online. I figured something hard-copy would be sent. Duke said 4-6 weeks. Not too sure with BU.

    YDS students!

interesting...Yale, for me at the outset, is also atop my list. Planning on visiting in October. Now, if I should apply for concentrated ethics (fall '15) might they not accept me in that domain and throw me into the comprehensive pile? Is it the same admissions faculty? I am also at that juncture where I am not sure if I want to pursue a Ph.D....interested - broadly - in the intersections of faith, ethics, law, and public policy. So maybe a JD/MPP after instead?

    2015 apps?

Yes - I think I ought to. They seem to have others, too, who are decent in ethics. Kind of initially turned off by the location.

    2015 apps?

What degree? MTS/MAR/MA What area? Broadly, ethics and moral theology in the Christian tradition. Interested in the intersection of religion, ethics, and law and public policy Do you know where? Yale (MARc, might look to move into ethics); Harvard (though I hear they're weak in ethics); BU; BC; Notre Dame (probably apply to non-competitive MA and MTS - throw my hat in the ring there...fully funded, why not.); BC; also looking at Duke What have you already done to prepare? In conversation with some awesome theology faculty at Loyola MD (where I will be a senior in the fall); GRE prep (Yale does not take 'em... ok then...) What are you working on now? I'm a Global Studies major at Loyola - particular interest in that broad domain is the politics of Eastern Europe (Belarus, mostly) And what else do you need to do between now and September when the application cycles actually open up? Personal statement work; go over writing samples; ask for recommendations; and figure out the most exciting, practical, and articulate answer as to why I'd consider spending more money on studying religion at the grad-school level. Other: I did come into Loyola (where I am teetering on a 3.8) as a theology major but moved away from it to make sure I got the best of my undergraduate experience. It has become evident that theology/ethics and the likes of Timothy Jackson and Reinhold Niebuhr have become my intellectual fancies. Cheers!

    MAR at YDS

Thanks, all, for this. Should have clarified on second part. ND = University of Notre Dame. Their MA is summers, online, and non-competitive. Though accessable and rather flexible...it seems kind of pointless. Their MTS, on the other hand, I hear good things about. Unlike most MTSs out there, it's tuition neutral with a stipend. Anyone know anything more about admit rates other details about Notre Dame's MTS?

    MAR at YDS

Hi all, Quick question...looking to pursue an MAR comprehensive at YDS. I came into my undergrad thinking I wanted to study theology and teach and have since moved away from it. At Loyola Maryland, I'm now an cross-disciplinary Global Studies major which consists of courses in political science, economics, sociology, and history. I am also a writing minor with a specialty in creative non-fiction. Having taken this courses and having a couple internships under my belt, my original academic and intellectual passion has become clear - I want to continue to study theology. I plan to take an MTS course at Loyola in the fall so I can be sure its still there for me. The Yale MAR seems to be a good program out there that combines a lot of what I enjoy. The career and academic paths some have taken after receiving the degree seem interesting. What do you think my shot is with a 3.8 GPA and being a non-theology major. I will have taken four theology courses by graduation. I am also the student body president...but I doubt that'd matter much applying to Yale where most everyone else has been, too. Any pointers? Also looking at the MA at ND but that seems like apples and oranges. I am studying for the GRE, but I still think their MTS would be a long-shot. Thanks
