  1. Hi all,

I just wanted to wish you all the best of luck during this intensive waiting cycle. I applied to eight history PhD programs: Tulane, NYU, Northwestern, UCLA, Cornell, Columbia, University of Michigan, and UConn. I hope to study race, ethnicity, state formation, and sociocultural movements extant in the Trujillato in the Dominican Republic from 1930-1961. I am so nervous because the last time I applied in 2014, I didn't get in anywhere. Luckily, I got into UChicago for a M.A. I'm currently earning a M.S. from Northwestern in health communication. I also want to earn a J.D., so yeah, kind of a career student here. Would love to be able to enroll in a JD/PhD program.

  2. Hi all, This is my first time writing on this insightful thread which has provided me with a wealth of information in regard to the inner workings/"machinations" (which perhaps might be too strong of a word) of graduate schools. I have applied to Brown, UPenn, U. Chicago, USC (University of Southern California), UT Austin, Vanderbilt, Cornell, Columbia, Stanford, the College of William and Mary, UConn, and Claremont Graduate University (M.A. Program). I was accepted to CGU. With the exception of CGU, I have only applied to PhD programs. I was just wondering if anyone might know whether or not Brown has selected all of its promising candidates? It's my first choice and the suspenseful waiting is slowly draining me of the final vestiges of my sanity ):
