  1. Congrats to everyone on their admissions offers! And I feel for all who have not received one yet. I am in same boat- Rejections (1 waitlist) and waiting on 3 more but not too hopeful. A bit frustrated with one school - was emailed over a month ago from the dept secretary that my funding application was never submitted (as it was separate application ) and they wanted to consider me for a TA or GA funding but couldn't without a completed application. I did it. A week ago, I received an email invitation to attend the school's open house visit day for incoming grad students in April. I didn't expect this as an admission offer but thought it meant something good! Received my rejection today (good thing I haven't RSVPed yet to the event or made travel arrangements!) I thought it was in bad taste to send it out to people before final decisions were made. (and I've emailed them to tell them that too) What a way to get someone's hopes up! Oh well, 3 more to go, but looks like I will be going around again ... or start looking for a job (I feel with an MA I am so close, I just want to keep going! and the jobs for academia-ie JC's- are even more slim for full time with only MA )
  2. I haven't heard anything - but as brl said - I saw some posts on the results page making me loose hope as I thought oregon was a good fit for me - fingers crossed all acceptances didn't go out yesterday! good luck to you And congrats brl254
  3. Thanks! I am waiting on them good luck getting your scores there and an acceptance
  4. Congrats to all the recent admits (haven't posted much/lately) ! Finally got my first rejection - not too surprised (From Brown) - it was the application I knew was a way far reach. Expecting a few more since I have seen a few acceptances. However, on a good note I just booked a trip to DC to work on research at Smithsonian and have been in contact with the curator who's actually created the collection I will be working on who offered to work with me while I am there! Super excited for the opportunity to work one on one with a curator at the Smithsonian (especially since I am very interested in working in public history in the future) Hopefully we all hear some good news soon
  5. Mine says the same thing for Rutgers... I hope they do it in batches ...
  6. AWESOME :-) I know the recipe will probably be a little different (according to Dublin - they had a "Special recipe") but I will have to check it out!! THANKS !!
  7. REALLY??!! Where or what ?! Because we looked a lot around (central texas) a few weeks ago couldnt find any- every little store almost lol - I love dublin dr pep (we went to the bottle company a few years back - before the legal dispute- it was real cool) What is the new name called?
  8. I didn't think about the expensive alcohol drink to open up - but I was in TX over Christmas and my boyfriend's family has been stock holding a case (we bought it a few years and left it) of Dublin Dr. Pepper. now that is worth gold since they no longer make it ! (saw it on sale down here in So Cal 2 years ago for a $75 for a 6-pack) its made with imperial sugar cane - it is so good but snapple co sued the small bottling company so can no longer bottle it (bottled it since 1891) ANY WAY - I have two chilling in the freezer and since it might be the last two ever drink EVER - we are popping them open when I receive an acceptance and if April 15 comes and I hear none, I am popping it open to spare from depression ;-) (I think I might also get my favorite bottle of wine or craft beer) *cheers*
  9. Thanks! that makes me feel a LOT better! That's the way I look at Poly Sci too (although I have a few historian friends who disagree!) gosh I got a B+ last spring in my MA program I seriously freaked out for days lol (but was on my way to Bath, UK for a joint class and quickly got over it until time came to turn in my apps lol) I know there are politics and my advisor even warned me to "not take rejection personally". I think you are write about the SOP and writing sample. I am really banking on it! a lot of people have been telling me my research is really unique and not really done so I am hoping that stands above everything else!
  10. Thanks Ashiepoo! your posts are so positive and welcoming! American history- mostly 20th century, though I dabble in 19th century . my interests are in cultural/social history . more specific areas - immigration, labor , urban / suburban history (metropolis spaces), material culture and memory studies.. I take a bit of cultural studies classes at my school and museum studies but my current research revolves around material culture in the suburbs I don't have the "credentials" to really apply to the top top schools (history wasn't my undergrad, poly sci at UC Irvine was - so I am nervous it will be held against me in the app process, especially top schools ) But I applied to : Brown (knowing I just donated my app fee to them, but I had to at least try because of a POI in suburban field), UT Austin, U Virginia, Rutgers - I realize most are probably out of reach but doesn't hurt to try!! UC Riverside, UNLV, University of Oregon, Purdue, Brandeis, and Carnegie Mellon oh and my school I'm currently at : Claremont Graduate University
  11. New to the posting - but read through most of this thread (took awhile!) but I am glad to see I am not suffering alone in the wait process! Congrats to all those who have been admitted already! all great schools! finishing my last semester in my Master's program - working on my thesis and last class...so hard to concentrate without knowing any idea of where I might be in the fall! good luck everyone
