  1. I did horrible on my GRE even though I studied A LOT. My practice tests I did well, but exam day - uggh. It's like EVERYTHING I studied wasn't on there. I ended up with a 154 Verbal and 147 Quant. My grades are high though, and I have a lot of field experience/volunteer experience and a conference paper. I'm hoping that, as well as my letters of rec make up for my poor test scores. I have anxiety when it comes to tests like the GRE, and I find that the test itself is unfair. :/ Good luck.
  2. Sorry if this has been asked before. I'm gathering all my writing samples, statements of purpose etc. into individual folders for all my applications. I was curious as to the best way to name these files? None of my applications state specific labeling guidelines. Right now, my writing samples are saved as the title of the paper - should I change them to something more generic such as: Last Name Writing Sample? Tips and advice would be appreciated. :]
  3. ....without sounding like a condescending jerk. I have a former professor who has told me time and again, that if I get into graduate school, she will give me a portion of her research project to conduct archaeological investigations. In more detail, I would basically get a small household group to do extensive microscale analysis of (excavate ALL structures to aid in my dissertation). How do I mention that I come with this potential data cache, without sounding conceited and full of it? How do I mention it gracefully and not sound like I'm begging? Because right now I feel like all I'm saying is, "Hey I have this potential data gold mine...PICK ME!" I know some professors don't care about that. I want to be able to tactfully explain that I have potential data to contribute (They don't need to hold my hand in finding a place to do fieldwork) but I am flexible (if they want me to do fieldwork elsewhere, I won't complain). First time posting, so I apologize if this may have been asked before.
