I'm also declining a previously accepted offer, but I'm waiting on my better choice school for their official offer letter. And they seem to be taking forever.... I'm just insecure to decline my previous one without having the new offer letter on hand. Anyone know till how late can I do this? Would it hurt anything if I decline super late like in late May?

It's 4 days till the response deadline and I'm still waiting on a school that I've interviewed with... Sent email to department director on Thursday and she didn't email me back.... Might throw a phone call on Monday and then I have to mail my response to another school right away. If the offer stands open till the 15th and the response has to be sent by mail instead of online, does that mean I have to mail it and make sure it arrives before/on the 15th, or can I mail it on the 15th and have it arrive 2 days later?

Still waiting on 1 school after interview and don't want to email to find out the status cuz I'm afraid my impatience would lead to a rejection.............(which my alter ego says won't happen)

This post is greatly encouraging. I need to show it to my parents in a couple months to convince them so I can live alone. I seriously hate roommates. And bad thing, I secretly hate them. But I appear to be a really nice person. So life has been hard for me.

So it's $1400 every semester?... I thought it was $1400 per year....= =

How much is housing (regular apt, sharing with other ppl) on average...? last time i visited they said around $800? Need to save money for a frenchie. 27k isn't too much ==

Hi everyone, It's entering the last few weeks before the April 15 decision date... I suspect that I'm either on the waitlists at a couple schools, or silently rejected and it's just a matter of time for me to get the rejection letter. I was thinking maybe contacting the admission office to ask what my status is but I'm scared. How did you guys learn whether you're not on the waitlist or not? I guess usually you have to ask them about it?

Congrats on the acceptances!! I think for international students it's always better to do PhD. MS is short and not worth it especially when you want to stay for jobs after graduation. PhD definitely gives you more chances to find good jobs/enjoy life here/get used to what you do. Besides experience, it buys you more time. UT-Austin is great for your area (I'm a BME student too and I applied to UT austin-probably getting rejected haha)

Troy is alright. Considered incredibly dangerous (never leave your door open). Winter is fairly unbearable. The only good thing is all the bars downtown. Come with a car otherwise you'll end up living very sadly

My sincere suggestions: Do not live in maplewood. The AC is terribly loud, you'll be waken up when your roommate uses the bathroom in the morning; we had some moles running in the house during winter break; student center never opens when you have time; it's far and old and stupid. Do not come unless you have a car or are ready to walk on snow/dirt/slush/ice for half a year. Come with skiing gears would be ideal. Ithaca is mad boring. I do not see myself spending more than 2 months here with joy.

I would not recommend sending emails to ask about the decisions because showing that you're worried/care about it does not in any ways help with the decision process, and it only creates more work for the person who gets the email. Not that avoiding doing so may give you a better chance either.... But for me, i just think I'd feel very bad for bothering people in the admission offices. They say they get hundreds of emails daily, so I'd like to be respectful and patient...

I think this is exactly the case/cases for people who are still waiting. No notice from schools=no rejections so far=better chance to get in bc you've made it through the first round. So be patient, for life is testing your heart.

Same here. Actually might be worse here. I got rejected by a bunch schools already yet still have a couple that has absolutely no message...... So worried. It's already late March!!!!! I'm doing a master's rn so this is really really tough cuz I still have a shit ton of work to do daily. Exams. Research. Work. Classes. Homework. Sigh.

They always say they will send out results during a certain week and then it ends up to be late March/April. Emailing won't help you too much anyway. Just be patient and wait.

Hi guys! Have anybody heard from UCLA for their BioE (sorry I can't ever remember) phD program already? I'm still waiting (it's my dream school). If there's already interview invites out, nbd, I'll just give up hoping. Also, anyone heard from Northwestern? Are they done with giving out invites/acceptances?
