No word from UNC today... I guess I'm not going to be a Southerner anytime soon.

Also, my friend recently was given an "opportunity" to work for a very famous psychologist and get to do some very promising research. In a sense, he was given an amazing opportunity. Still, based on his interests, the work did not fascinate him and had very little value to him in particular. My point here is that you shouldn't get too distracted by how good of an opportunity law school is for someone; how good of an opportunity is law school for you?

It's difficult to weigh all the variables here, but I think it's fair to say your job prospects are probably pretty good going to a top law school. I don't know if I can say the same about the majority of philosophy grad programs. Seriously though, this depends on your priorities.

Yeah, the Harvard acceptance doesn't look super legit to me, either.

Yeah, a verification of Harvard would be nice.

As far as PhD placement goes, how might one weigh a school's TT placement ratio to the "quality" of each TT job? For instance, Pitt seems to have a higher ratio of TT jobs to overall graduates than Berkeley does. On the other hand, out of those who landed a TT job, Berkeley seems to send graduates to more highly ranked institutions.

I like this mindset.

Well... How do you do it? More specifically, how does one "objectively" evaluate a placement record?

Who knows. Based on the two schools I got into, I think they sent out a single round of acceptances in a small wave.

Congrats to all the Toronto and UCLA acceptances! I wonder if they've finished sending out all UCLA acceptances.

Anecdote: I had a B, B+, and 5 A-s in philosophy and got into grad school. Be hopeful!
