I just got the rejection e-mail.

It seems strange, there are only four political science awards, which is extremely low from last year. I'm not on the list either, but I kind of figured I wasn't going to get it.

I finally made the decision to go to GWU with a major field in American Politics and a minor in methods. I'm still hoping I'll get a funding offer since American is their smallest sub-field, but I'll be going either way. I just couldn't turn down being in DC since I want to go into actual politics rather than academia.

I haven't; I was really hoping to know before the open house. No sense falling in love with a school I can't afford, even if I am going to visit.

I haven't gotten an update since March 11, so I'm not sure when things end.

Yes, I'm going to be there. I'm from CA, so I had to commit to go in order to book a flight that was at all affordable. I'm going to Georgetown's open house on Friday and GWU on Monday. I'm really hoping funding will work out for one of the schools, but I'm still waiting to see.

She stated that it was the budget uncertainty that was making this process take so long. She also said that we should know by Wednesday, but we will know before the open house whether we will get funding.

I just spoke with the department, and I was told that while they're a bit late this year final funding decisions should be made by next Wednesday. They're waiting on the grad school to set the budget. She couldn't tell me where I was on the list though.

I was accepted as well. I can't do it without funding, especially since the department doesn't seem to do much to make sure you can work as well. I'm going to the open house anyway, and hoping for funding. Hope to see some of you there.

I'm definitely attending the open house. I haven't gotten a letter yet, so I've heard nothing about funding. I'm pretty sure that I'll make it work out even if I don't get funding. I want to be in DC so badly that I think it might be worthwhile.
